Seawolf

Atari 2600

Atari 2600 programmer Manuel Rotschkar (Gunfight, Star Fire) has completed his latest Atari 2600 title, Seawolf, which will be his 4K entry in the 2004 MiniGame Competition. This game is influenced and inspired by the Midway Sea Wolf and Sea Wolf II arcade games as well as the Astrocade and 8-bit home versions, but is not a direct port. Seawolf also borrows elements from Broderbund's Seafox. In Seawolf you command a submarine lurking below the surface of the ocean, where you need to attack enemy convoys while avoiding depth charges and other dangers. But use your resources wisely, as you don't want to be a sitting duck when you run out of torpedoes, or worse, fuel! And watch out for the Red Cross ships, as they have a surprise for you if you accidently target them! Seawolf comes in a translucent blue cartridge to match the game's water theme, and keyed to the original label created by Dave Exton. Dave also created a stunning, full-color eight page manual to accompany the game. You can pre-order Seawolf from the AtariAge Store, and it will be shipped to you after the show.

Homestar Runner RPG
Atari 2600
Paul Slocum's (Marble Craze, Synthcart) latest project is a new Atari 2600 RPG (Role Playing Game) based on the characters from Homestar Runner, as well as some of your other favorite Atari 2600 characters. This will be the first in-depth RPG on the Atari 2600, and will be comparable to early computer based RPGs. But the absurd scenarios and dumb fairy-tale characters will be replaced with true-to-life stories and much more believable characters from the popular Homestar Runner crew. Mike and Matt Chapman (creators of Homestar Runner) are contributing story, graphics, and creative ideas to the game.

Fall Down
Atari 2600
Fall Down pits the ever-opposed forces of RED and BLUE* against each other in an ultimate battle to capture scrolling platforms! The first player to fall past a platform captures it and scores a point. Taking time to collect power-ups can give some advantage, but taking too long only results in death at the top of the screen. Watch out, because the platforms slowly accelerate... Fall Down includes both two-player and single-player modes against a highly effective AI. *BLUE couldn't make it for the PAL version, but his side-kick BLUEISH GREEN was more than ready to take up the fight!

Reflex

Reflex is a new game currently in development for the Atari 2600 by Lee Fastenau. It delivers breakout-style action with progressively difficult levels of play. Unlike other breakout-style games, however, you control two paddles that move around the bricks opposite each other. Reflex offers three modes of play: one-player, competitive two-player, and cooperative two-player. Planned or implemented features of Reflex include unique board patterns for each level, level selection, paddle "English," NTSC/PAL50/PAL60 support (separate SECAM version available), convenient video mode select during power-on, joystick and driving controller support, and difficulty switch support for upping the challenge.

Fade Out
Atari 2600
Fade Out is an original game being developed by Christopher Tumber (Space Instigators) and GBA artist Adam Tierney. You play one of two assassins, hunting each other down in an abandoned factory. What makes gameplay unique is that the factory is alive with moving platforms, and the assassins are the same two colors as their background. Because of this, players are free to move about each level in the 'shadows', hidden from their enemy. Options include difficulty settings, color selection and handicaps in player speed, energy and weapon strength. The game is currently 2-player only, although single-player options are planned.
