Speaking of ideas

I HAD AN UTTERLY RANDOM thought this morning, an idea for a game:

What if you took Missile Command, flipped it upside down and put it under water?

I.e., rather than protecting a city from missiles, you would be protecting a ship from torpedos/etc. You would drop depth charges (and...?).

Has this ever been done?

There's a port of Segas Depthcharge on the 2600, that has the dropping depth charges part. Whatsitsnameagain... Sub-Scan?

Anyway, it sucks... So it's about time to make a better game from a cool idea like that. Mixing Missile Command into it sure sounds like more action.

Other than Sub Scan? ;)

Although the Missile Command approach would make for a different play mechanic. Might be kind of cool. I think the trick would be to make it not feel like just an upside-down Missile Command.

Canyon Bomber also contains a similar game. Pretty impressive, actually, considering that the whole cart is only 2K and a lot of the kernel code couldn't be shared between the two games.

Where you sleeping upside down in your bed? Sounds like a fine idea. I think it could make a great game. It's a little like Tempest as well, just rolled out flat.
