May Savings, HBO Now

SpiceWare

I've been enjoying Game of Thrones on HBO Now so I've decided to go ahead and let the $15 charge for the next month go through so I can finish watching season 5, which wraps up in a couple weeks on June 14th. I had a small balance left on the iTunes gift cards I received for Xmas, so I'm only counting $10 towards the monthly expense for content.

That puts savings for May at $146, with a cumulative savings of $3624. Only $92 left to pay off the setup!

I'm still watching HBO Now via the iPad due to the crappy picture quality on Mac computers. To show how bad here's a couple screenshots of Rome, which I can also watch via Amazon Prime. Click them to see them full size at 1920x1080, or just check out the closeups. Both screenshots were taken on my Mac Pro.

Unless they fix this, I've decided to let the HBO Now subscription lapse when it's up for renewal on June 27th. Because of this, I'm not planning to start watching any other series on HBO Now - I'll just watch their older shows via Amazon Prime.

Addendum - screen grab from Yahoo Screen's Other Space

I think Amazon Prime might use Silverlight on a Mac, but I am not certain.

As I said before... I wish FLASH would just go away....

It is. Yahoo Screen is using Flash though, and it looks just fine in full-screen mode. Added a couple more screenshots to the blog entry.
