Quandorf

Posted by atari2600land, 30 April 2012 · 173 views

I'm hopping from game to game again. After running out if ideas for i, I have decided to work on my Qix-type game again. There are a few differences between Qix and my game, which I call "Quandorf,"
1. The qix (or, in this case, quandorf), moves randomly instead of going to where you are.
2. You can only draw straight lines, no jagged ones....

Fatso!

Well, I didn't think I'd get any submissions for the label contest, and I didn't, but somehow or another, there has been a label designed for the game. It's in the style of all the other Odyssey2 games (yellow with a black background). The yellow looks to be somewhat darker or something than all the other ones, hopefully that...

i: want to finish this game

Posted by atari2600land, 28 April 2012 · 179 views

OK, working back now on "i". That's the name of the game. For those of you who don't know, I started "i" way back in 2006. Then I went and did GoSub and other things then forgot about it. I resurrected the game briefly in July of last year, and resurrected it again a few days ago. This I figured will be a lot easier to program...

The Microvision site.

Posted by atari2600land, 26 April 2012 · 207 views

I made this site for the Microvision, prepping to open it on New Year's Day 2012...then forgot about it. Well, my Microvision had been in a bin along with some art supplies, and decided to take it for a spin to see if it still worked. BlockBuster was broken, Pinball was semi-playable, but Bowling worked great. In the Microvision page I made, I put a tip...

Super Mario 64 2600 (part 3)

Posted by atari2600land, 25 April 2012 · 238 views

Well, what's behind door #1? You can find out yourself by playing the binary. I worked a little more on the game last night and you can now enter the left door. I had wondered why the players stopped working and went berzerk and found out that it was because I had put the game at 8k. Now it should work from here on out. I would really like to make a 64k...

Super Mario 64 2600 (part 2)

Posted by atari2600land, 24 April 2012 · 219 views

Well, a lot more has changed since yesterday. I put in jumping, and opened the castle up. Inside the castle, the same music from the N64 version plays, only it's very simplified down to meet the 2600. None of the doors work yet. Well, you can read more and download the binary here:...

Super Mario 64 2600

Posted by atari2600land, 23 April 2012 · 231 views

I got bored again, so I thought to myself, I wonder if Super Mario 64 can be ported to the 2600. So I began coding, which eventually gave way to pounding the computer a few times (to knock some sense into it), and that eventually gave way to this. Birds are chirping in the background as Mario walks around, just like in the N64 version. He can enter the...

Earth Day

Posted by atari2600land, 22 April 2012 · 189 views

I say, what's a better way to spend Earth Day than to work on a video game featuring insects? That's what I did, well, part of it. I added a back story into the game before the title screen and after the "banana presents" screen. I figure, if all the Playstation and other games on CD can have elaborate introductions that you can skip,...

Oldies.com (part 2)

Posted by atari2600land, 21 April 2012 · 217 views

Well, those five movies I ordered a few weeks ago (finally) came. So now I have a lot to add to the less than an hour movie site. The two I opened first were the ones that IMDB said were 60 and 61 minutes, but these movies are actually shorter. I don't know if the company cut stuff out or what, although I don't really know what would be...

Shifting World

So, the 3DS has been out for a year now. What does it have to show for itself? Not very many "killer apps". Not very many games period. And not very many interesting ones coming. Mario Tennis, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Super Mario 2D. That's about it as far as big names go. So in order to get new games for my system, I have to go hunting for...
