DS Game in 2014 (and DS Flash Cart talk)

I went to Wal-Mart today. I saw a DS game I had never seen before. It was called "Lego Friends." I looked it up when I got home and lo and behold, it was actually released in April 2014. A regular DS game released in 2014. So this means Frozen and Barbie Dreamhouse Party are NOT the final DS games released. I don't know why a game company called "Hellbent Games", whose logo is Satan's pitchfork, would make a kid's game. A girl kid's game. For the DS. In 2014. Well now I have to get this one. And this means that the DS went for about 10 years, and not a little under 10 years. Now this wants to make me work on GoSub DS. So I asked my sister to get the DS Flashcart (the R4 one) for my birthday since nobody will take PayPal and I don't have a credit card. I have the first model, I just want to make sure it's the right flash cart I need.

I bought an R4 (clone) back in 2012 http://gbatemp.net/threads/r4-ds-review.41279/#post-4239131

The big advantage was continuing firmware updates (Wood), although I don't know whether that is still true. The disadvantages are it won't work in the DSi & 3DS and it doesn't support SDHC memory cards (and 2GB cards are much harder to find these days).
