Timon & Pumbaa's Jungle Games

Here's a new category for my blog: SNES Reverse Chronogaming. I figure why not start at the end and then work my way backwards for a change? I'll return to my GBA Chronogaming blog category soon, but this will be in kind of an order, I'll begin with games made in 1997 (and after), and then work my way backwards to Super Mario World, which was released in August 1991. Well, here's the review:

"Timon & Pumbaa's Jungle Games"

+ Release: October 1997

+ Company: THQ

+ Size: 12 Megabits

+ ESRB Rating: K-A

This is a cartridge consisting of four games, each of which are similar to an already-known game (kind of like "Pigs In Space" for the 2600.) Burper is similar to Astrosmash, in which things are falling down and Pumbaa shoots burps at them. Hippo Hop is similar to Frogger except that instead of getting to the other side, you go around the screen collecting stuff. Sling Shooter is just like hunting in the old Oregon Trail computer game, where there's a cursor and you shoot stuff that pops up. But the best game of the four in my opinion is Jungle Pinball. Yes, it's pinball, and it's surprisingly good pinball, albeit it could have been programmed a little better and sometimes you don't even have a chance to hit the ball with the flippers when you unload it because it goes straight for the hole. In every game, you get like 5 lives, so it's certainly geared for the younger crowd, although I don't get why this game was published in 1997 when The Lion King was released in 1991. I know the Disney Channel had a cartoon based on the two characters, but wasn't their popularity low by that time? Anyway, like I said before, this game is geared for the younger set, but they can also be played by older folks, too, although they won't enjoy it nearly as much as kids.

Rating: 6/10

Next up: Classic gaming goodness with Space Invaders.
