Never considered that a vertical shooter... always thought of it as more of a driving game.

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I have always seen the game to be more about shooting enemy cars and boats than about racing down a track, particularly since the game has no end and I usually associate racing/driving games with a finish line.

 

I guess that is similar to how I see Bump n' Jump, again not quite a driving game because of how you accumulate points. Interesting!
