A gift for a friend (GNZ) Colecovision

blog-0131981001410807072.jpgGhosts n Goblins...Ghouls n Ghosts....ahhh... one of my absolute FAVORITE game series ever made. I remember pumping away quarter after quarter playing GnG in the arcade and walking around for hours collecting aluminum cans to cash in and purchase it for the NES (Not to mention washing cars, selling lemonade, mowing lawns, etc...) I was seriously almost in tears when I got to Sears and they told me they no longer carried it (these were the days before Funco/etc) Luckily I was able to find one eventually :) I bought both Ghouls n Ghosts and Super Ghouls n Ghosts on day one as I was old enough to actually have a job at that point and at one time in my manic compulsive hoarding/collecting I owned every single game that had anything to do with GnG from the Bandai Wonderswan version to the obscure Saturn import music game. As you can see, I really like this series!

Well, years ago I discovered (too late of course) that a sort of prequel was made for the Colecovision called Ghost n Zombies! You played as Arthur's Father in a quest for a Rose...I HAD TO HAVE THIS!!! Unfortunately, it was a very small run and I was late to the party. I tried like hell to get one, even offered a few hundred dollars ransom, which I really couldn't afford, but it didn't matter because nobody was selling. I finally accepted that I just can't catch them all and gave up, but it still ate away at me whenever I heard the game mentioned...

I saw yet another post asking about this game, I told myself not to post, I will only end up igniting the fever to find it again when I know it wont happen but I ended up opening my big mouth again, lol..

It's six pages long but all the info is in here...

Long story Short the creator of the Game (Youki) was able to see my passion for this series and said that someway, somehow, someday he will get me a GNZ to play!! Of course it could be years from now but hey, thats fine with me :)

As a thank you to my new Coleco friend I made a custom one of a kind special box for him. It is the only one ever made and the only one that ever will be made. The special "thank you" box I made for Youki...

Made from solid plate aluminum, etched routed (both sides in some areas, not easy to do, lol) with a nice mahogany wood piece to hold the game and bonus metal "thank you" piece in place. Spent a few nights on it and even missed Taco night (I NEVER miss taco night!) but I feel the end result was worth it.

Thanks again Youki!

Will we see the return of GNZ someday? I don't know but I sure hope so! :)
