Easy come, easy go

I managed to get very lucky and got an Xbox 360 from the Circuit City website last Friday. I was going to keep it for myself, but after I heard they were selling on eBay at a ridiculous markup... in some cases as much as 500%... I couldn't pass up the opportunity. So I did what any good capitalist would do, and put mine up for sale. I set the price higher than I thought was reasonable, because I kind of wanted to keep it for myself. But it did end up selling, and I made double what I paid for it.

My first "Rarity: 8" cartridge!

On another gaming board I frequent, I'm probably the only person actively interested in anything pre-NES. So whenever someone has some old Atari games to unload, I'm usually the one they unload them upon :)Recently a guy said he found 40 or so cartridges in his basement, as well as a 2600 and a few joysticks. We worked out a deal, and I ended up getting the whole deal for $80 plus shipping. I received the package yesterday, and the first thing I noticed was how nice all the carts were... they

Resident Evil 4

I've been a fan of the Resident Evil series since getting the Resident Evil Director's Cut for the Playstation way back when. A lot of people complain about the now-cliched gameplay and "tank" controls, but I still love 'em.Even so, I have to admit that the REworking (pun intended) of the series with Resident Evil 4 was a huge leap in the right direction. I played the first couple of chapters early this year, but just now have gotten around to (almost) finishing it. This is such a great game

Clone Invaders

I recently reinstalled M.A.M.E. on my PC, and went about adding all of the various Space Invaders clones to my Favorites list. It's truly amazing how many hacks, clones, and bootlegs sprung up on the heels the original. There were close to 100 or so games released betwen 1979 and 1983 that were called "Space (something)" or "(something) Invaders". And of the dozens upon dozens of space shooters that tried to one-up the classic SI - only Galaga came close, IMO. There's just a simplistic eleg

It's a start...

I don't talk much about my classic gaming hobby on my "main" blog, so when AA added the blog feature, I figured why not?I'm currently on a downswing... as far as collecting goes (whether it be games, DVDs, CDs, whatever), I tend to be very cyclical. I just sold all but one of my 7800 carts, and my Commdoore 1581 disk drive, and I'm getting ready to eBay one of my heavy sixers and about 75 carts. And probably one of my Commodore monitors. I like the collection aspect of it, but at the same tim
