Super Pachinko Fan 2 (SFC)
Pachinko is undoubtedly one of the most popular parlor gambling games in Japan, so it's no surprise that versions of this Japanese pastime would eventually make their way to home consoles. The game featured here is "Super Pachinko Fan 2", only one of the dozens available for the Super Famicom (the Japanese equivalent of the SNES). I got this game for a song from a Japanese retailer on eBay; let's just say the shipping was more than the actual game, which is usually the case online. The game features a story mode which I haven't been able to decipher as of yet, but it does have a free play as well which gives you a set amount of yen and sets you loose on any one of the available pachinko machines. The control is limited to the speed in which you launch the ball and how much yen you bet; otherwise, it plays itself out, and while this sounds quite boring, it actually is very hypnotic in a way with all the balls rushing around. Although there's a small army of pachinko games available for many home consoles, this one is my favorite out of the ones that I've had a chance to play. It's a nice addition to a collection and it's definitely a conversation piece if one of your gamer friends rolls by.The elderly man pictured is actually in the game's story mode
