Well - after all that photographic documentation, I had to abandon the other motherboard and install all those parts in a Rev. A board owing to stability issues. Then, once the parts were in a different motherboard, problems persisted. Turned out to be a faulty stereo Pokey board... you live and learn.
Anyway - after I finished that machine, I did one for myself - and it went a little more smoothly. Here's a photo of it.
