  2. Will that work? Every time I've tried to run UFLASH from the loader it can never detect my system. Where is the FAT FMS option?
  3. You'd think not, until someone involved with competing hardware starts to make the limitation a wedge issue. In all seriousness, though, my main motivation for raising the limit to 1,024 files on SIDE3 was in order to handle some of the game archives from the Polish FTP sites. Many of them are organised alphabetically in folders, and 500 plus games in one folder is not uncommon. I wanted the loader to be able to deal with that, and the SIDE3 loader is able to load and sort such huge directories in a few seconds. The fact the live search facility favours the current folder before iterating through the rest of the directory tree makes it easy to home in on the file you want even when there are thirty pages of directory entries.
  4. The MULE issue appears like it might be an emulation bug rather than a wrong disk image. Just tried the Atarimania .ATRs of both the Ariolasoft UK and Electronic Arts versions and both exhibit the same graphical glitches. The Homesoft "Multi-Joy" .XEX version crashes. And the other .XEX I have only appears to support 2 players regardless of system.
  5. I've never played this before and, man is it hard! I went with the same as Rickster since j figured he knows better than me. (All games played on the Flashback.) Track 2 - Tan Car: 10:24 Track 3 - Red Car: 9:54 Track 4 - Green Car: 10:53 Total Time: 31 minutes 11 seconds I think I crashed on nearly every turn (and even of the few straightaways) on Track 2. Track 3 was only marginally better, and I had a bit of inspiration or something for Track 4. This game is so hard and each round takes so long, that these might be the only scores I post. It was interesting to check the game out, though. Quite impressive for 1979.
  6. Enable 'FAT FMS' in the loader, put UFLASH.XEX and the BASIC ROM in a FAT16/32 partition, and run UFLASH directly from said loader. A CIO FAT filesystem driver is installed before the XEX is launched and UFLASH's file selector is then able to navigate the FAT directory tree and load files as if it was running under DOS (the implementation is read-only with Incognito and SIDE2, but R/W on SIDE3). This removes the requirement to copy files into SDFS partitions or fiddle about with disk images. Certainly you can put your ROMs on the ATR, mount the disk image on D1: (anywhere which doesn't clash with a HDD volume), and go in via SDX if you prefer. SDX has a read-only FAT16 driver but setting up 'external' APT entries for FAT partitions is another discussion entirely. Yes, but be sure to remove the 16-byte CAR header at the top of the file as well.
  7. I actually pre ordered 3 extra sticks. My order is direct from Atari and given there past delays in delivery I may get my order next week or in three weeks, who knows!
  8. I picked it up as part of a bundle and while it's nice to have, I won't really make use of it - it's even in it's box! £50 collection from Lichfield/Staffordshire area. Many thanks, Simon
  9. @Jfcatari Thanks for the info! Did you try the capacitors with Mouser CY3DM? Would you be able to update the BOM to reflect some of the changes we discovered? Maybe make a section just for the crystals with different options? Looking at your list, it seems we had some bad luck with the choice of crystals. It makes sense that not all manufacturers will have the same tolerances for their products in terms of the specs . Now we know the need to account for that possibility. I am currently waiting on some crystals from Console 5 to test and will report back. I need to order some more items from Digikey anyway, so I will order the ones you flagged as working from them.
  10. Update on the TI99 images to look better in the preview and to show old vs new manual RomTI99Images.zip e.g. the image will show both manuals (FYI - some TI-99 Cartridges have 3x different manuals)
  11. @chad5200 It would be a big ask, so I would not ask, but as you are the guy with one good one and one bad one you could open them both up and compare... I wouldn't if I was you... but you could. It's something to note that currently all the bad ones have been the pack in sticks, perhaps that data will change as we hear from more purchasers of the stand alone stick.
  12. The joystick that comes with the 2600+ are great... why didn't they START THERE with the joystick movement design? Isn't it even coming from the same company, Plaion?
  13. The CX40+ was an excellent recreation of the original, and even though they are too lose for my taste the sticks that came with the Flashback 50 were responsive enough. What a shame to mess up the USB stick with addional buttons, it could be a big seller. I am hoping we are the 1% unlucky.
  14. I dont think so, the rubbery part is is held in position by 2 plastic parts that go into the two holes. Sadly, this is not the way to create a good joystick. I was hoping to find switches so I could solder a 9 pin connector to them. I have found the pins on the chip for the 4 directions and the fire button, but the chip is tiny and my soldering skills are not that great.
  15. My first thought was an overtight section or overtightened screw, but I don't want to mess with a brand new product.
  16. I mean the original CX40 was a cheaply made joystick too, all they had to do was replicate what it was doing.
  17. Hello, Keir! You don't have a Red Sea Crossing cart? You can pick one up on eBay! 😁 (Joking! - Happy Easter!)
  18. Absolutely there is, and I am not taking mine apart to see, the rubber feet are over the screws.
  19. Is it possible that the joysticks that have bad diagonal issues are misaligned? Do you see any slack in the parts and maybe shifting something around would correct the issue?

  21. The ARM version of windows has a very capable x86/64 emulation layer built in, so many Intel programs work nicely on my M1 Air with Windows 10 ARM.

  23. I have opened my cxstick and sadly it is a very cheaply made joystick. The directional "switches" are not switches at all. I don't know how it is called, but it is just a simple plastic rubbery circle with 4 pads that shorts the metal pads on the pcb. It is the same as you can find in many d-pads. So no switches for the directions, just an altered d-pad that has to function as a joystick 😞
