I tried different configurations at home, the demo runs fine on Atari800MacX with AltirraOS. It also runs on real hardware (600XL PAL/U1MB/VBXE) from AVG-Cart. I had no luck with Side3 and A8PicoCart. Nice demo btw!

You're welcome How long you hold onto a game does depend on the game and the location - I still have a few games that I opened with 16 years ago as they still earn consistently. But when it comes time to say goodbye, yeah, there is a decent used market out there. Many locations just focus on new stuff because that's what makes money, but for those who don't have unlimited budgets like Dave & Busters or Round1, they'll tend to look for some good deals on used. You have to have a really old game with a name for collectors to be interested in it. I probably should put my prototype Hydra up for sale here soon or sell off my Pitfall II...pretty sure those would go to a collection and not an arcade, unless a game museum wanted them. Once in a while, there is something that you can't seem to move at all. It sucks, but that's where you just end up scraping or selling the cab off for super cheap. I've only done that with things that aren't special - generic cabinets or a weird indie game that was too custom to do anything with on something else (a tank game from a now defunct manufacturer I had to junk as I couldn't get parts for it anymore). I have a racer I might have to do that with, as every time I've listed it for sale, no one bites, no matter what the price (well, I haven't listed anything for free...would be nice to recoup a few bucks from it, at least for the cabinet).

Great you got a 64 bit version working! I'm testing beta8 version with 8 threads and 100000 solutions (yeah, that probably is dumb) on a picture that's been running days now. It did start around 1GB memory usage, but it's surpassed 3GB now. However, with /continue it is no big deal from previous experience if RastaConverter stops - The memory use starts off low again and continues with no seeming issues. Not Ilmenit's problem but RCGUI may behave weirdly with beta9? Will fiddle to see what works nicely or not (apart from renaming executable to RastaConverter.exe)

@ilmenit - tiny request. Would it be easy to make the command line parameters be visible in the title bar like with previous versions? I've got in the habit of just snapping an image of my progress window and it lets everyone see what options I used during the conversion. 1st attempt with beta9 - great results! Bald Eagle, 71 colours. Settings were jarvis, strength 3, randomness 0.8, 8192 solutions, gamma 0.7 Stephen_BaldEagle.xex

Thank you, that worked, the only combination I did not try, of course 😕

Ran across this video on YouTube last night about Whisky. It uses Wine and Apple's Game Porting toolkit to run Windows games. The example video walks thru installing and running games from Steam. I don't have many games in Steam, and most of the games I have do not run (denoted with 🚫) on my current Mac (a Studio with Apple's M2 Ultra CPU): So I installed Whisky, then install Steam in Whisky. The 🚫 symbol does not show up by any of the games: Haven't played Peggle in years so decided to install it. When I launched it the program displayed the Loading screen for long time: Long enough that I thought it hung. I let it be though, and it eventually finished loading. I started a game: and while it did run the audio and game both stuttered. Did a little research, found this, and did the following in Whisky which resolved the stuttering issue: File -> Kill All Bottles Click on Winetricks... Select DLLs tab Select dsound click Run... Run Steam Launch Peggle

Editor for Intellivision Music Tracker Library

@DZ-Jay Thank you very much for your detailed answer, and for even providing a bug fix to the instrument / drum problem! I know that kind of "I fixed this 10 times" bugs myself I think I will go with 1.5 for now. There is actually no need to implement new features only for me. After all, its my first game and I want to leave some place for improvements for my next game I have already added arpeggio, vibrato and envelope support to my converter. I only need drum support, then I will make a test track and show my results. -

It would be cool if you could print the title on screen without splitting it up, along these lines or some other way: -

Thank you for your suggestions! Unfortunately enabling Guest Access in SMB didn't seem to change anything. Still cannot access the TIPI from my Windows 10 or Windows 7 computers. Tried both file browsers and web browsers to no avail. The web browser seems to act like the web address doesn't exist. And file explorer doesn't act like it exists either. For fun I also tried hooking my Pi up with an Ethernet cable. Still have the same issues. While having the cable connected I also tried to access DM2K from the ftp.whtech site and still get a solid blue screen and nothing more.

Is there any way to update my submission, I’ve found a bug slowing down the game in some conditions? I’ve also added the distance covered in game over screen.

Should just be able to: svn checkout http://www.64kib.com/atarixlfpga_svn/trunk/atari_800xl/

Feel better. Talk about coincidence: I literally just got home from a surgical procedure an hour ago and I'm in the exact same boat, laying down and relaxing. Get some rest and hope you enjoy the video if you get to it later. -
GCHAR equivalent in UCSD Pascal?

If you aren't going to use it too frequently you can write the whole thing in Pascal. Then you don't need the linking. But otherwise you're correct. -

Played two more games while cooking a pizza and had a mini breakthrough. Got to the 3rd maze level with 4 or 5 lives and then proceeded to choke and die over and over at the beginning of the maze entrance. Made it through with last life and kept it going for a while barely hanging onto fuel multiple times. 94,930 -

Same here... I watched about 1-2 minutes of a random spot in the middle. I just had a surgical procedure today, so the anesthetic has got me loopy and tired, so I will be checking it out in full later this evening. Thanks again. -

Sure! I only watched a few scenes, but what I've seen looks really interesting. Can't wait to check out the whole film! -
I do as well. I have two CIB on the way. I don’t normally collect CIB unless I see a good deal. In this case it was two for 23 dollars that was including shipping.

Sweet!! Thanks for sharing -
HDMI converters can give varying results but sometimes it can be the TV itself causing issues. Try a different display mode as it may help the picture display. Regarding the plasma TV, the SUBCART should behave the same with any display. The Plasma TV may be struggling to sync to the Atari modulator signal. To verify this just attach both displays! It is possible to make your own Atari8 to S-Video cable by cutting off the end of a standard S-Video to S-Video cable and soldering it to a DIN5 plug. S-Video cables have individually screened wires so if you get stuck that is always a fallback. Also as a consideration, look for a dedicated monitor for your Atari, or at least a TV that has more inputs and can accept composite and S-video as an option. Many older 19"-24" TVs have these options so secondhand shops can be useful.

Super! I can see that I can probably configure the A4/Bell/U1MB pins to match my connector, and since the caps are on board, no extra PCBs will be required. I have one more problem, with your site in fact, this server of yours should be a proper SVN repo server, no? (Excuse my rustiness, last time I actively used SVN was some 8 years ago), I tried to checkout from it with: svn co svn://www.64kib.com/atarixlfpga_svn This just time-outs, after a considerable wait. HTTP version did not work either, with an immediate message that HTTP/DAV is not supported. Or is the SVN specific read access not public, and I need credentials (which I won't get I know ;))? EDIT: Oh, and about U1MB - yes, I know there is a plugin, but I have my own custom plugin set to control a video device I cooked up, and I am not sure I will have space in the 2K plugin space to pull in the PokeyMax one..
