  1. Past hour
  2. Sorry for the delay. Maybe, just maybe it works for me on MacOS, not because of a MacOS issue, but because I update the original games.ini file pulled out of the AGSP by the custom firmware manually, with a text editor and that put that version of the file into a format that it works, with updates/additions, go forward. That would be a simple test. Open the games.ini file of the SD card, add a blank line to the end, change the update to a 1 and put the card in the AGSP. Possibly from that point on it would work??? I no longer have the original and I certainly don't feel like resetting my AGSP to factory defaults. If "we" (and I appreciate you all because teamwork makes the dream work) figure out it is some weird format with the stock version that if appended to directly makes it unreadable (for the new additions) then I can probably work-around that in the code (when copying the initial version to lost+found, open it, read it, save it back to the SD card).
  3. A little something from Monsieur Bangalter:

  4. So that one's pointed to the arcade rom and has no trigger relationship, ok. And if you first open the CV Game entry, and click on the trigger button, it should auto-open the matching trigger record. I renamed and moved my mouse trap COL file to match your settings, and then edited my trigger entry to match as well. It's still working for me, so it's a bit odd...
  5. Can an analog pc15 be read just as easily as an analog stick? If so, I can have someone who is knowledgeable in that wire up a one of those converter chips programmed to be a Game Port 15 to INTV2 converter. I understand north south east and west are four separate pins and there's two pins for what fraction of a right angle there is in between the press and a reference angle. So it could be 1/4, 2/4, or 3/4 as the positions between the Cardinals. Starting at one Cardinal and either going clockwise or counterclockwise from the "reference angle". If it's just a simple as replacing an actual physical thumb analog stick with a PC 15 game port interface that would be an interesting sub-product that would come out of this. An Intellivision controller interface for those who like large sticks instead of handheld pads. Then instead of the three buttons being actuated by physical button presses they could be actuated by TRS 3.5 mm connectors so a handicap stick could be plugged in there. I assume the A B and C all represents the three physical buttons that are unique on the intellivision. I could provide my own keypad with a DB9 y-adapter, a flashback controller, and the INTV2<->INTVFB converter in the right place and orientation. You don't have to use a physical Genesis pad to house it. It could be housed in anything, any shape, that could fit a PC 15 game port and three TRS 3.5mm females, so could actually be cheaper because it doesn't have to be as exacting as a physical controller which demands precise placements to be ergonomically correct.
  6. Just to bring my end of this full circle: I received a replacement Atarimax cartridge (with reset button) today, and the issues I was experiencing are gone. This can't be definitively put down to old vs. new hardware simply because the first cartridge I had may have been flaky from the start, but either way I greatly appreciate the replacement. Steven stood behind his product 110% and did everything he reasonably could to proactively rectify the situation. I'm a happy customer and will be picking up a couple of other items from him in the coming weeks.
  7. Hahaha. I do exactly the same thing. Every time. -Ben
  8. Well, after 30 years, we can enjoy all classic consoles without regret. And if some ppl bought a Jag dirt cheap in a clearence sale end of 1997, I guess they are very happy now😅
  9. it is 16-way. it is taking an analog thumbstick and it goes into an Arduino Pro-mini (really just the Atmega 328P chip itself) that is running a program that is doing the mapping from the thumbstick, and it is looking for the button presses for the buttons that are on the controller. The Arduino has 9 outputs that are going to the Intellivision. You can see that all in the second picture of the first post.
  10. Hi, yeah... looks like something is overheating... Once the problem occurs, reset the unit or turn off and turn it on again doesn't fix the problem. I have to turn it off for about an hour or two to get it working again and colors to come back as well. The VDP does have an heatsink. But maybe VDP has overheat and will fail soon... thanks for the hints
  11. and without this keyboard you can't do anything with the TIPPC ! Another keyboard doesn't work, I tried it
  12. I always liked the Atari XL font. It worked well on a TV with 40 chars per line
  13. Somebody get Zimag's lawyers on the phone.
  14. Missile Command Arcade is only a 16K ROM requiring 16K RAM. Of course, it also uses 64K of VBXE RAM. Eagle eyed players will notice that the logo is different for the .xex version and the .car version. That's because we had to squeeze the cart into 16K so we had to use a two color logo for the cart and so the border around the text is gone. Missile Command+ was an outstanding hack, by the way. In addition to 3 bases, he added the intro screen, a demo play attract screen, "The End" and a high score table. I sure wish that Atari had put out a 16K cart with those features from the start.
  15. Cool. I asked because I'd like to port my game from MSX to Colecovision and SG-1000 in the future. So I'm thinking about buying your book to acquire some know how about this
  16. Today, marks a full 11 months of freedom here in Canada. I made amazing progress so far in restarting and rebuilding my life and I am looking forward to celebrating my 55th birthday soon, which falls on Mother's Day. So, let's try to complete the GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/f/garyopa-restarting-his-life

  22. Admittedly I don't know how it works... But I did know that the 2600+ had an arm cpu. I guess I wasn't thinking that it was some sort of architectural difference. But that somehow the code in the rom chip on the cart had some kind of arm processor to accelerate certain functions that it had to access while running and that was possible on original hardware and not on the plus because the chip wouldn't be available after dumping in a dumper scenario. Well, I'm not super sure why I thought that because probably that's not anything close to how it actually works.... I think I might have been thinking that because I couldn't get their free demo roms for these games working on stella on my emulation handheld either, they all crash. Sounds like we are all gonna find out soon tho.
  23. I never could but figured my conversion was failing more than the JagGD. Did you do anything special? Did you get it from a disc or a digital version of some kind? I'd like to know what software you ripped it with, to what type of image, and if it just converted fine. I gave up on that one.
