WayForward is one of those developers that I get excited about with pretty much every product announced. Gonna be interesting to see how they work in "Yars." -

What Atari 2600/7800 game have you been playing the most today?
MrChickenz replied to shane857's topic in Atari 2600+
HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY! Todays game is Red Dead Redemption In this open world (your half of the screen) survival, shooter you have to be fast on the draw! Or you’ll wind up dead! Watch out for Cactus, hop on a Wagon! If it ain’t broke! And I’ll be darn there’s a Shoot’n Range! I have to be honest, I never knew there was target practice in this game. Lol! -

Toss aside one of the best metal cages ever made. yeah I'm going to have to ignore this one, pulling the rip cord now. punching out. -
Replacing the potentiometers is a bit overkill. During the years there was a lot of black gel that I assume had come from the carbon in the potentiometer. After washing all surfaces with IPA the unit was like new.

When I was searching for a MSTE keyboard a few years ago, some one stated that some MSTE's were sold with MST keyboards.

that also depends on the disk set up. in any event, almost everything was configurable to a degree on these old machines, so when you say there was no standard for this or that, well that's true for almost anything, but there were ranges of addresses settable via dip switches and jumpers that sort of became 'settled' over time. as to memory, 256k and 1 MG boards were commonly in use, and easily purchased both static and dynamic from multiple sources here in the states as well as a number of video cards and specialty cards. Like every other machine, how you decided to implement things were up to you but there were still ranges to stay within if you wanted everything to work. http://www.s100computers.com/Hardware Index Page.htm http://www.s100computers.com/index.html http://dunfield.classiccmp.org/s100c/index.htm endless sites like the above all with different cards etc to peruse for the best choices to make a multi-function card or remake of a great old card for a chuckle, everyone has the most... https://www.eevblog.com/forum/vintage-computing/probably-the-most-sophisticated-cpm-80-machine-ever-made/

I have to say, with all the IPs that have been getting the "reimagined" treatment, I did not see this one coming. I'll be very interested to see actual gameplay footage.

That's interesting. He said something along the same lines when I last made an enquiry. No idea what he meant, though, so you've cleared that up for me at least. -
I've had this SNES for years, though not my original one I got for Christmas one year. I like going in my consoles I buy and replace 20-30+ year old components with fresh new ones. I've done it on numerous Atari 2600s, my Super Scope, NES, Saturn, Genesis, etc and decided it was finally time to break out my soldering tools and use this cap kit I bought a while back from Console5. I got the first few smd caps off before one of the damn pads lifted and the tiny copper wire attached to it ripped off the board. After collecting myself and not scrapping the console, I tried to find it on a schematic to see if I could find where it connected. The schematic has the wrong value so I tossed that idea and broke out my phone's camera, really zoomed in, and could see which via the cap's + terminal connected to. I did some probing with my multimeter and found it connected to a leg on a small chip so I soldered a wire to that and the bottom of the cap, and then since the cap wouldn't set in place anymore, I had to solder a small piece of wire to the - pad. Then one more pad lifted, but didn't tear. I traced where it went just in case but was able to still solder the new cap to the lifted pad. I checked the legs on all the smd caps I replaced and everything was either grounding or showing continuity so I put everything back together, carefully placed the "floating" cap under the heat sink and hooked it up to my tv and voila...it powered up, played a game, the controller worked, everything works just like it should. Crisis averted! If it hadn't powered on, I would have likely tossed it and just bought another SNES console that had a better chip setup. Mine is a later revision that has the worst RGB quality, should it be setup to display like that. For now, I'll just keep this around and play through composite connections. I bought this sweet scart switcher a while back when I was going to convert all my consoles to scart with fancy cables and then run it to the switch, but for now that switcher will continue to collect dust.

What is your Top 5 go to games for INTV, 2600, CV
JasonlikesINTV replied to ZillaRUSH's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Hmm... For original Intellivision games: Worm Whomper Beamrider/Dreadnaught Factor Demon Attack/Atlantis/Beauty & the Beast Popeye/Frogger Cloudy Mountain/Tarmin Frog Bog/Space Armada/Deadly Discs Auto Racing Ladybug/Lock 'n' Chase/Mousetrap Sorry, I'm terrible at making lists. I kinda lumped a few together 😁 I haven't played enough Atari or Colecovision to make a decent list. Shout out to the High Score Club for helping me appreciate a few that I never originally gave a fair shake. -
Hi Muddy Looks great and plays very well. Greetings Walter

Custom firmware for Atari Gamestation Pro
big_guitar replied to Brad_from_the_80s's topic in Dedicated Systems
I found an issue with subsystem references (e.g., final burn neo) for which it is unlikely that anyone has tried, but I will put out a new version that will include a fix for that issue and will give instructions on a colecovision example that will use it for playing games requiring super action controller support (emulating the SAC that is with a modern controller).- 205 replies

The audio ac coupling caps are already included (since v2b). Regarding pins, on the top header there are four pins: GND SPDIF LEFT RIGHT On the bottom header the pins are: 2 4 6 8 10 1 3 5 7 9 I was planning this: 9= SIO audio in 1=A4 2=A5 3=A6 4=A7 5=PS2clk 6=PS2dat 7=GTIA audio 1-8 and 10 can be redefined here: http://www.64kib.com/atarixlfpga_svn/trunk/atari_800xl/atari_chips/pokeyv2/build.sh See:10M08_fullv4_stereo Re U1MB: It has a plugin now and talks to pokeymax directly, no need for a wire.

First time playing Doggone It! It’s a fun game. I’m finding the therapy dogs to be the biggest challenge, especially when they set super fast. -
Wait a minute. RC uses only 16 MB and still crashes a lot? Why not 128MB?

Which model of the Genesis do you have? The older model 1 units can develop symptoms like this when the volume slider starts to go bad. It can sometimes be cleaned up to help, but I've usually ended up having to replace them out. I used to keep va7 model 1 systems just for that volume slider but I've not got anything like that on hand currently. I've not really looked to see if a replacement can be purchased new. It is actually a rheostat as the name of the component and while I'm sure you can get something similar, I don't think the exact one used in those consoles is able to be found now.

@TZJB @Beeblebrox any expertise or opinion on this^^ ? I'll want to make a decision soon on: 1. purchase 2xshield s-vid cable/or diy 2. HQ video out (at RF port) 3. How doing the chroma patch might affect any decision? I *have* read many of the related threads, but I want to make sure i'm not missing something or creating difficulties later. -
I can see agood use for this in a portable ti. Could use an Ide, Scsi, or both.

Both Warlords & Food Fight Are Returning To Coin-op This Year
ledzep replied to Shaggy the Atarian's topic in Atari General
That makes the most sense. I think I listed a few ideas similar to yours, there's just not a lot of space to add things without fundamentally changing the game into something else. Changing to a spinner would allow the castles to wind up in different locations per level, including not being crammed into the corners so that the shield might need to protect 3 walls or all 4, or the castles could have other shapes like an L or U or triangle shape, that would affect rebounds towards other players. This is exactly what I was talking about with '90s+ arcade games design priorities. Ooooh, detailed graphics! Wow, a little CG guy moving around randomly! Textured shield wall sections! The castles look like they're made of stone! The moving shield changes to a hand or a giant pizza!! So what? The game mechanics are unchanged and, if anything, the game itself has been slowed down to accommodate those new, snazzy fireball streaks. To what end? The game is more boring than the original. Yes, there are a few power-ups, oh joy, power-ups. But otherwise? It's nowhere near as engaging as the arcade original (a friend of mine has the cocktail 4-player version, that is very popular with visitors) even though the original has lesser graphics. Part of that is also switching from the paddle controller to the PC mouse. I'm glad they maintained the analog control but a mouse is less accurate than a paddle (or spinner) in terms of stopping movement to bounce the fireball. Do younger players really prefer better graphics over better gameplay? That's nuts. No way I would pay money for this version, I'd rather fire up the 2600 version (or Castle Crisis, of course). - Today

Hi All, Here is another card with the new form factor(MPEB) with a 2 port PEB, so if you do not have a TI99 PEB, you can now have at least 2 slots with just a console (plus extra power supply). I have gone with the sizes 246 x 96(110) or in inches 9.7 x 3.795(4.33). I will be working on the casing next, then converting all other designs to this form factor. Regards Arto.
