  2. Thanks for listing 1K RainboX, but there is another entry "Rainbox" which can be removed since it is the same game. In the video, I call it "RainboX", but the official title is "1K RainboX".
  3. I'm tempted too, putting it on my watchlist. But have to pay medical and other bills, so don't know if I'll have the cash for a bit. Also need a good PEB, haven't had time to fix one yet.
  4. That's odd. I wonder if a re-flash of the firmware might fix it. Both the flicker and the colors not changing on the console.
  5. @magnusfalkirk Yes to what @Batchman said. I grew up with Atari, so I have an irrational love of playing games with Atari Joysticks! Also, the Atari flashbacks have the difficulty switches and now support paddles pretty well. I do a lot of experimenting with emulation on different devices, and IMO these Atari flashbacks do offer a very good experience for Atari 70's and 80's content. However, if I take a console on vacation with me it's usually the Legends Flashback just because it does support a ton more content and plays great with actual Sega (well aftermarket in my case) game-pads. On the Atari units we just made a big effort to restrict most of the sections to one-button content so that if you open up a game you can pretty much be guaranteed you can play with the one button stick. I'd bet with Nexus you have the biggest collection of one-button arcade games ever identified - if that's something to brag about. I still play Arabian sometimes - but then I clear my recently played list. LOL. Some sections (Gameboy) have never really been filled out even to that extent, and some of the newer sections were not filtered so carefully mainly because of time. I happen to really like Colecovision, so when the point was made that some games could be played better with the "up" hack I was sort of really into that idea. 🙂
  6. Yes, mine is really bad. I was able to get to the halfway point in Bruce Lee but every death was because the stick was not working right. So far I have not gotten any of my other controllers to be recognized by the 400 mini. Have you guys tried any other controllers?
  7. Whilst I am waiting for my GD to arrive from SAG I have been preparing and pondering. This made me think of the possibility to emulate the VLM using the GD. Maybe this was brought up before and I missed it? When I had purchased my Jaguar CD on launch, I had a pretty significant audio CD collection. I guess I was the oddball who enjoyed playing my albums through game consoles and I really dug Minter's VLM on this thing. I wonder if it would possible in the future to simulate it and play back CD audio disc images using the GD and experience it again. I am probably one of the few that would actually want to do such a thing, but man would that be cool!
  8. Ok. So a bit of an update. Two 8040's received and tested in my XF551 just to make sure they wee ok. They tested fine. Tried in the board I built up with no joy. The floppy powers up and heads move but when connected to the Atari and turn on, the Atari makes a "squirting" noise and goes to desktop in about 2 seconds. Very quick. I tried moving jumpers, etc. and got a bit frustrated. Decided to build up a second board. So bored built. The WD1172PH, 8040 and ROM are all good as tested on XF551. Two green power LEDs. Looking good so far. Turn on Atari - "squirt" noise and at ready prompt in 1-2 seconds. If I move the drive ID number I get the unit making the normal bumble bee sound when no drive is connected. So I now have two completed boards with virtually the same issue. What's the next testing step? Oh, I'm collecting a clock crystal tester tomorrow to make sure I'm getting the right speed.
  9. Yes, of course. However it would take hardly any effort to have it tolerate higher current and just draw what it needs. I have many other low wattage devices that just care about the minimum current. Some people won't even *have* 1A output USB and it's not included as part of the package.
  10. @Frank1969 I moved to Retrobat. But batocera should work very similar (bios, roms, rpk all the same). Try the retroarch/libretro as emulator (you can configure it per game) Or try mame64 as emulator. That might give the crash.

  12. Terminator 001 Another one in resolution 168 x 240! not many colors (still more than C64 has!) palette: real.act The blacker image is from emulator (Atari800 in PAL) other image is output.png GravityWorm_Terminator001.xex
  13. The orphan chronicles on internet archive of R. Albright is a good read. And home computer wars (more on commodore).
  14. Well yeah.. it says on the unit underside it needs 5V 1A, therefore, it er.... needs 5V 1A.

  16. Pitfall is undeniably a source of inspiration when thinking about creating a new platform game for the Atari 2600. The problem is creating something unique and original without going against these classic inspirations, but let's try. As much as possible, I'll try to eliminate the classic element and replace it with something different, like the bridge, obviously inspired by Adventure.
  17. One year ago today, I finally got released from the #SeaTac Federal Prison, after getting my "First Step Act" time credits and being released 9 months early... But my legal battles were not over, now being a "illegal alien" in the USA with an expired Canadian Passport, meant I had to be transferred to ICE custody, were I would spent another two months, with a bit more freedom, no jail bars, outside rec yard time, and even an Xbox 360 system with few games to play on. If you ever have the sad pleasure of being at the "NorthWest Detention Center" and in the F4 pod, you will find a "GaryOPA" Xbox profile on their gaming console from when I was playing "Need 4 Speed: Hot Pursuit" for the two months, I was waiting around to get deported back to Canada. Lucky, for me I got to the ICE facility just after the riots and lockdowns due to the horrible food and cleanness of the place, so I got to see it running at its best, with everyone being on their toes and making sure we were OK, and medical staff on par, and food quality better. https://prismreports.org/2023/02/15/northwest-detention-center-hunger-strike-ice/ Thankfully, I survived the 60 days and was out of the place fast, unlike some aliens that end up spending a year waiting to get deported to their home country.
  18. not bad if it stays at that price, and shipping around $30 more usd to canada. good thing it is not that apple ii game disc, it is over $4,500 on ebay so far, just for one floppy in plastic baggie with the index card insert.
  19. For me, two things would be almost essential in a new machine: 1. Will the paddles work directly from the DB-9 port? On the MiST core (that you originally wrote), I have to plug in my 2600-daptor into a USB port in order to use my paddles. I think that is a limitation of the MiST hardware. I just want to make sure it would not be a limitation of the new machine. 2. Will there be the ability to disable the custom hi-res mode? I have run into a few games (the latest being Cyborg Warriors) that do not like the mode. I appreciated the new option that was added recently to the MiST core to disable the high-res mode. That appears to improve compatibility. Overall, I have been very happy with the MiST core. However, if this new version was affordable, it would be very tempting for me. I appreciate being able to switch between NTSC and PAL easily. Except for a dual pokey, I do not see the need for much built-in except for an SD slot to load XEX and CAR images. If the SIO matches the original machine, I can plug in my existing Fujinet rather than having it built into the FPGA. Bob C
  20. Thanks, didn't think to check there as I don't work off the TML disk directly too often. OK, inching my way ever closer... Following Senior Falcon's instructions I got Tursi's player and some music loaded into high memory and playing in TML! So that's a good start, however I cannot load anything in TML after loading this "1 line XB program" that has the music/player embedded. Or rather, I can, but then I lose the player routines and presumably the music as well. As a test I loaded the music in TML per instructions above and once the music was playing, tried loading my title sequence I was referring to earlier and this just crashed the system. So then I got the music running in TML again and this time loaded a real simple program that just prints "This is a test" on the screen--this didn't crash, however the music that was already playing began to get really wonky, flat like a broken down jukebox or something , rather amusing actually but unfortunately not the effect I'm going for! I suppose this is probably to be expected, huh? I'm guessing I overwrote some memory somewhere by loading another file... so would the idea be to code my program within that 1 line XB program that HMLOADER spits out? Because I did try adding some TML code there and sure enough that all worked fine. If this is the case I will need to somehow copy over my code from my existing program into this new high memory code. I can live with that if it gets music going in my game!
  21. This Atari 400 mini i sounding worse by the minute, mine arrives tomorrow.
  22. Anybody feel like going through these and seeing if we are missing anything? https://ebay.com/itm/296326554703
  23. When a game doesn't load right, the FPS isn't a matter of emulator performance, but rather the 2600 rom not giving out proper sync signals. The target FPS and actual FPS values being displayed in the debug info match each other, so the emulator is actually keeping up just fine with the (broken) code. Zippy is a 64k rom, and only 16k was dumped, so this is a problem with the current public dumper.
  24. I guess I just sorted it out 1-4 are SD or DD for the first 4 drives (I guess) But I'm still not exactly sure how 5-8 work. Guess I'll keep at it.
