  1. Past hour
  2. That's correct, you just set up an .m3u playlist, but you have to do that beforehand on a PC. You can mount up to three on the device itself, which is nice. I'm not super familiar with any of them but I'll have a look. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but I'll attempt it and report back.
  3. I liked your ideas, I've came up with a few game variations myself. 1. It's hard to tell a story within the limits of Batari Basic, I've already made a 1-Button runner. Look up Lyra Dash here on the forums. 2. The game operates on Atari's original 2600 Game Standards witch means it never has an ending. It loops levels until you get a game over. 3. I really liked this idea, but it be difficult to make, it would eat up rom space. And I'll have to add additional minikernels (Second Score from @Karl G & 6 Lives Statusbar + Pfscores from @KevKelley Thanks for the suggestions though.
  4. Nah, having some sort of experience and being able to teach it are two different skills. Regarding when it is best to initiate the music player, you will have to experiment to see. Good luck!
  5. Both can be true, there are some emulators that are total crap as well, and have become so bloated over time that they produce lag that is worse than when they first came out. Vice 64 is a good example. The author said himself that it was never and still isn't being used for gaming. Yet, the C64 Mini and Maxi used it for their Minis and it is awful. The Atari 2600+ hardware and emulation is good, but Stella's emulation has been great for 10+ years now. And even then, the Atari Flashback series in my opinion has extremely poor accuracy. Its all over the place, is what I am trying to say.
  6. You should file a bug on that CD issue: https://github.com/analoguejb/Analogue-Duo-JB/issues
  7. I was reading some early talk about the THECXSTICK and how the diagonals are touchy. I was worried that my joystick would have the same problem. I hate to say it, but it's happening to me too. Many times when I am trying to push Right, the joystick is registering Right/Down. Or pushing Left will often register as Left/Down. It's like the diagonals are extra sensitive. Anyone else have thoughts around their joystick experiences?
  8. Finally, you may not notice input lag the way others So wait, you started this thread asking "How long until this fad dies out"? then present evidence *cough, cough* showing one cheap Chinese console doing emulation very well (showing no evidence of testing lag, delay or accuracy, or mentioning which systems were tested) and then declare why you think this "fad" is going to end soon, answering your own question, and ignoring why people disagree with you. Umm..ookkaayyy... You also keep pushing this narrative that people who prefer FPGA are "snobs" or are arrogant or obsessed? Couldnt I argue the same for you the other way, especially considering your original post comes off a bit...angry? Finally, you may not notice input lag the way others do. Ever think of that? Saying something is "fine" for you might not be for other people.
  9. According to the GenX guy (and probably the full manual; haven't looked at it thoroughly enough myself yet), you can mount more for games that need it (like Ultima, etc.), via playlists.
  10. Apon further research, the program is skipping the rest of the code within the "FOR" loop and moving on to the next iteration when the condition in the "IF" statement is met. So, how would it be rewritten to accomplish the same task ? 10 Fast :Dim Q(158):Graphics 11 15 Ls=10:Mc=81:For I=0 To Ls-1:For J=0 To 7:Q(78+I*8+J)=8-J:Next J:Next I 20 For I=0 To 77:Read X:Q(I)=X:Next I:Z=Q(24):L=0:T=L:Q(158)=L:Dc=T 25 Cx=Q(L):Cy=Q(L+12):D=64:D2=D*2:H=D-1:I=L*16+1 30 On D<=1 Goto 55 35 For Y=T To 191 Step D:B=Cy+(Y-96)/4*Z:For X=0 To 79:A=Cx+(X-40)*Z:Color 1:Plot X,Y 40 R=0:I=R:R2=R:I2=R:For C1=0 To Mc-1:J=R2-I2+A 45 I=(2*R*I)+B:R=J:R2=R*R:I2=I*I:C=C1:If (R2+I2)<4 Then Next C1 50 Color Q(C+78):Plot X,Y:Drawto X,Y+H 55 Poke 77,0 65 Next X:Next Y:D2=D2/2:D=D2:T=D/2:H=T-1:Goto 35 70 Goto 70 same data statement as above.   11. Congrats, one example. I guess the myth is over!!!!
  12. Wha? You should not be blaming the computer for a limitation of the "Austro Compiler", which was a pretty obscure third party product. VIC-20 owners at the time programmed it in the built-in BASIC or machine language, and you would not have any issues with the redefinable characters with either.
  13. You would need a good understanding of the NTSC RS-170A video standard and how the color burst reference is used for subtractive color. I'm not surprised that S-video (Y/C) works correctly as the chroma channel isn't "composited" on the luminance channel, making reference to the color burst signal much less critical.
  14. Excellent news. That should do well for the non-banked language carts like Assembler/Editor, Altirra BASIC, and Pilot. Could you try one of the OSS language carts like BASIC XE, Action! or MAC/65 to see if it supports booting them along with a disk image?
  15. This is obviously all subjective since this doesn't bother me in the least (real hardware, VBXE, LG M227WD) and doesn't strike me as something in need of 'correction' (and - as I say - a portion of it is still visible on the gated display). In any case, it was great to be obliged to sit through this amazing demo from start to finish. Extremely impressive, and the music was particularly top-notch.
  16. Yeah, I suppose. People can see what it is as soon as they start it up, though.
  17. This is one thing I was a little concerned about prior to launch, seeing all the built-in games with no border. For USB loaded games, you can increase the screen width and height by a bit as well as tweaking the vertical offset, but not quite enough to make the full overscan border visible. Whether or not this is an issue varies a bit by game; more recent homebrews tend to be a bit more adventurous in this regard (the status bar in Bosconian is chopped off at both the top and bottom even at max width/height, for example) but older stuff that keeps itself to the usual "playfield" generally works fine. This should in theory be an easy enough fix in a firmware update, they just need to up the limits on the crop settings.
  18. We're getting to the point that even low powered emulation devices can run anything up to the Dreamcast flawlessly, just like I explained in my other post just before this one, the need for an FPGA for high quality emulation is greatly diminishing with each and every passing year, another reason why I think this fad ( by fad I really mean obsession that certain groups within the retro gaming community have with these things ) is going to die off soon .
  19. TIGraph 100 https://www.ebay.com/itm/143208585595 My hunch is this was made in the 1960s to print manufacturing line data. I guess it counted electrical pulses from the back terminals. In 1961, TI needed real-time charts of how many transistors were falling automatic testing. The Geophysical and Instrumentation Division invented countless machines to automate the production line. (Mike Bunyard got his start there.) See Ed Millis' book: TI, the Transistor, and Me: My Dis-integrated Journey Through Texas Instruments. (It has very funny stories too.)
  20. Back yet? Acknowledged and list updated to reflect. All right the rest of you: keep those numbers coming.
  21. Yeah, this was ultimately why I decided not to try loading onto the M.2. That and the fact everything seems to change with each FW/BIOS update which makes it a moving target. If it ever levels out, I may try again someday, but for now it’s working. 👍🏼
  22. FYI, I've got 6 of these in stock in my store at https://videogamepcbs.com/10-products. Also available now is a box and manual, sold separately.
  23. Of course, another option is some type of adapter that allows use of USB keyboards and mice. It feels like those types of older computer games would be a logical next step. Either way, I'd be SHOCKED if there weren't SOME type of peripherals in that as-yet-unknown batch of hardware. I really do think they can't realistically introduce any new hardware this year, other than perhaps some more themed/skinned stuff a la the Duke Nukem VS (and, pretty much no matter what it is, I'd have to pass on, since I already have a regular VS, regular Duke, original handheld, and EXP).
