We had a great time last night with like ten people there, at least two of them being on 8-bit computers. Chatted from 8 pm till 1 am CST. A lot of fun. And naturally we'll pick it again next week.

Welcome to The AtariNews.Org BBS

This BBS was setup mainly for its chat feature... to give the guys from the Atar

overkill but after trying a few web based chat systems and the Atari web browser

having a problem with frames and refresh headers, this seemed like the next step

Can you please post a reminder before the next chat (my memory is like a sieve these days). I'll be one joining the chat with an 8-bit machine. Thanks.

We have a special chat night going on (currently) if anyone would like to join us at...

telnet://www.atarinews.org

Look at the above messages to get the instructions on how to get on.

I would like to thank everyone who made the chat party last night such a blast. We had Docrotcod, Davidb, myself, and Rick D on speakerphone here at the Dallas area chatting away with our computers setup (An Atari XE, 800, and a Mac lap with Atari fonts at least)

In the chat room we were welcomed by Slor, eventually followed Cybernoid, Mojo, and Dan. Chatted till about 3 in the morning. :)

Thanks for the most fun we've had in a while. We think me have to have another get together in March. I am all for that. :)

Isn't there an easier Atari chatroom somewhere else ??

I didn't care to much for telnet://www.atarinews.org and I am in another chatroom (retail chatroom) that is so much easier to use.

1006731[/snapback]

Ataritimes.com have a chat room but it's in java, and some computers are having trouble with Java(mine included).

Yeah, but for ultimate geek appeal, this lets you connect with real Atari 8-bit machines. Last night, we had 2 or 3 130XEs, and an 800.

^^ Yes, I saw this thread and decided to go with a different Java chat. Not sure what was going on with the old one, but this new one is nice (and works!)

Feel free to use it whenever. :-)

Java... the ugly word to any retro Atari machine. You say "java" and you'll be logging on with anything but an Atari machine. Think about it. There is no Atari machine that can do java.

So aside from that the chat room is great, and I will join any night that you chat as long as it doesn't conflict with Tuesday night or Sunday morning.

It's chat time!!  (See above messages for directions on how to get there.)

Would like to think everyone that showed. We had about 12 people from 8 pm CST till 12 am CST. (and beyond, that was when I left.)

Lot of fun.

Next chat times are...

10 am CST Sunday

8 PM CST Tuesday
