Mirage
For those who would like to buy a Heavy Sixer it looks like there is one over at Shop Goodwill.com. I'm guessing based on the picture, but I'm pretty sure that's a Heavy Sixer. Here's the link:Heavy Sixer for sale Goodwill Yep, that's definitely a Heavy alright. Comes with Mario Bros, Millipede, and what I guess is a pirate cart (Double Dragon) too. A few other good games, and a label-less Frogger to boot! And one wireless controller? (EDIT: Maybe that's a standard Activision Double Dragon since the manual is there too... I didn't recognize it, as I don't think I have that one). Waterborn
Just picked up a Sears Heavy Sixer today. Serial Number 61304R. Pics at my blog here: http://www.2old2play.com/Blog/Waterborn WOW! I just took at look at the list at the front of this thread and this one logs in at #2 on the Sears list! The guy I bought it from claims that he got the unit while working at Sears back in '77. This guy said they gave him the unit to take home and learn everything he could about it so that he could sell it. I was a bit skeptical of his story, but maybe he was telling the truth. nice find either way. Edited April 6, 2009 by Waterborn

ROBOTKINGNES
If you haven't read my other post i wanted to get a list going on 6'ers serial numbers to see who here has the oldest. I found out that it was going to be a little more difficult than that, seeing how nobody really knows what the suffix letter represents or what letters were used. So it was suggested that it might still be a decent idea if for no other reason than just to see what suffixes were used. Just post what the # on your 6'er is and any other pertinent info (i.e. Sears or Atari console, Taiwan made or anything other info you think would be useful). I will try to update daily and rearrange according to company and suffix letter. I will start the list in my second post with my own two that i currently have. shadowdoggie
I won a heavy the other day for pretty cheap (see "deep 6er" post), but I was just going to package the thing up and resell it for a profit. Until now. I just went back to the auction page to see exactly what I won, and noticed that someone had asked the question, "What is the serial number?". The seller's answer... A: Hi Serial # 008020 model # CX 2600 Thanks So, if he read it correctly, I think I'm about to make the top of the list. I'll let you know for sure in a few days, and take pics. There is a comment next to the one currently listed in the top spot that says "most likely a two sticker unit". Did the early heavys have two stickers? Oh, I just spotted these: #006391 ianoid #007649 grimbasement White sticker #007621 Christophero Sly- No channel select switch, White sticker ... so it wouldn't be the lowest number after all, but still pretty low Edited May 19, 2009 by shadowdoggie
Wester
I believe the common theory is that they (serial numbered units with no suffix) are most likely factory refurbs that got new serial numbers, the units with no suffix are usually two sticker units. On a side note, I will be updating the list soon. Thanks to everyone for posting.
ApolloBoy
Date stamp - 15th week of 1979. They were making heavies in 1979? I got my light before then. I'm guessing that Atari probably still had a sizable supply of Heavy Sixer parts at the time. Heck, Atari was still making Light Sixers well into 1981 or 1982; my Sears Light Sixer was made in mid-1982 if you can believe that.

I tried like hell to get the top sticker off, but unfortunately I was unsuccessful. Here is the sticker image: Don't associate this unit with my name on the front page though... she'll be leaving me soon. shadowdoggie
Webster, I received some interesting information from robotkingnes. He says that his... "repairman's dad worked for Atari in 77-79 and his notes show that these serial numbers were during the transition from 1 channel to 2 channel units. They have nothing to do with refurbishing." It isn't clear from just that bit of information why they put the new stickers on those units, but it is interesting to note, and could disprove the commonly held belief about 2 sticker units with no letter designation. RoadrunnerRod
Over the weekend I just picked up my first Heavy Sixer (along with a boxed Vader console, two CX-10 joysticks along with a few normal ones, and 20 boxed games) for $20! Guess this is one of the Taiwan Heavy Sixers, it's serial number is T 0049406. Last night I took it apart to clean it up and reconnect the rf cable and noticed a tag of paper with what I'm guessing is a build date, July 28, 1978. Also, it has the channel a or b cutout and the switch. I took a few pics of the various codes and stuff I found in there, but I'll have to post those later because my camera battery is dead.
