atariluvr77
Serial number: 568406721 Made in 1981 Bought at secondhand store a month ago Channel select switch is hiding in a hole NTSC console So, how do you find the console's exact date of manufacture? All I have to go on is the date codes on the chips. It would be on a tiny sticker affixed to the top of the metal RF box lower right hand corner once the unit is opened. Alot are missing now as the glue dried up and the stickers fell out when they were opened up by people. atariluvr77
Actually, I don't think that's a manufacture date code sticker as many people believe... in fact I'm sure it's not. The date codes never jive with the serial numbers on the bottom of these consoles, that is, if the serial number order assumed to be correct is the way Atari ran them... the date code stickers may be specific to the RF modulator, assembly date, or even service dates. DestinedCruz
Manufactured for Atari Inc. By Dimerico Electronics in Taiwan Model No. CX-2600 Serial No. 81405689 Also has Atari Super Service sticker on the bottom. No speaker slits, channel select switch is hiding at the bottom of the Mines of Moriya. I bought this gem from a local video game store where I'm pretty good friends with the owner. He'd just had it traded in a box with a stack of games (Pitfall 2 was in that stack! Woo!) for next to nothing, and told me I could have the whole box for $8 because he was too lazy to clean and test everything at the time and it probably didn't even work. It wasn't until I came to clean the system up that I noticed it was a six switch. System works absolutely perfect so I haven't bothered opening it up at all. Seriously though, what a deal. It's currently sitting on display at the store I work at, but I'll add some pictures to the thread later.
