well the power supply has to come out and be external 1st off 2nd the square smaller chips need heatsink and fans ! then you can remove the copper and recycle it...I am glad i dont have one of those

? Not sure what you are saying here. I have *zero* heating problems with my Mega ST4 that runs the BBS.

It's not an overly exotic machine. It was a 2 meg machine originally that I had updated to 4megs, I added

the 16mhz AdSpeed accelerator board, and I removed the grille from the back of the case over the fan. Its

actually recommended to do that if you run them 24/7, as I do. Improves airflow through the case.

Apologies if I misunderstood what you were saying in your post. :)

Steve Carden's 'Inside the 8-Bit BBS' is now officially live and rock-solid:

Log on via telnet: www.realdos.net:8888 or 8889

Steve Carden's custom TCP/IP Express! and RealDos is the master control of the board.

Give him a ring with your favorite terminal. Supports 40/80 column & ATASCII/ASCII/ANSI protocols up to 19.2k baud. Running on real 8-Bit hardware on 2 nodes at once!

See you there!

hmm, how works telnet BBS server 1.4a ?

You would run a BBS on your Atari 8-bit and the BBS Server on your PC (or whatever host you have). The callers from the internet would type the IP address of the Host PC and it would route the connection into the BBS program on the 8-bit.

Is this what you were asking?

I'm quite tempted to re-open my old BBS from the 90's. It was tiny, but it worked. Also, HDD space is quite cheap, so I might rebuild and fire it back up. I'm not sure what to run now since I used WC! back then.

Sounds cool. What was WC? Don't recognize that software.

DO IT!! We need more retro BBS'es!

The last week or so I have been working on a vintage computer BBS list. Feel free to distribute it accordingly, and inputs are always welcome. Here is the Google docs link to the list:

Hey Mad Hatter, is there an update to this list?
