DK Arcade 2600. New 4-Level Demo!

Progress. Yeah!

We have a code branch.

Byte Knight started over with my source and not only created his own game "Money Man," but for fun made a DK "lite" version of Level 4!

In just two weeks, gameplay has far surpassed what I had coded!

Thanks again to everyone who has taken time to help us "basic" coders.

 

What is new: Lots!

Fireballs climb!

Working Hammers!

Scoring!

Ending animation!

 

I am so impressed and thankful we can share this work in progress with everyone:

A little buggy, but the level is gorgeous!

 

I just hope all these "alternate" DK demos don't discourage VCS from completing his Donkey kong project.

Assembly developers don't really compete with BASIC game makers. In fact, it's the assembly gurus that are gracious enough to make the tools batari BASIC peeps need to create :)

What bugs did you find?

 

I don't think this will discourage VCS's project - his game takes a whole different approach to DK...

A couple of things. The game just resets when I take a hit, and if you climb up the edge of a ladder you sometimes fall strait to the bottom when you reach the top edge.

We haven't implemented lives yet - we still need to add a Mario death scene and we'll probably display lives in the "How High Can You Try" screen. I thought I had the ladder bug fixed - I'll take a look at it again.

What ramps? The barrel stage looked flat to me last time I checked.

This is the batari Basic DPC+ one. I changed the title of the thread because it was too obscure.

You've confused it with the assembly VCS one.

I don't want to have this thread shut down.

I also don't want it easy for that big "N" company to find, remember, NO KEYWORDS, please.
