Chris++
Best Off-Topic Podcast - OTR Playlist That's all I've got for you. I don't think it's really my place to judge, since I don't currently host a podcast. I think that they're all Podcast of the Year, given the amount of maintained enthusiasm and sheer work that it takes.
RJ
I don't think it's really my place to judge, since I don't currently host a podcast. Movie critics critique films without actually making or starring in them. Food critics critique food without actually being chefs or restaurant owners/operators. Video game critics dont necessarily make video games. There are a ton of YouTube critics who arent personally involved with whatever given thing they're critiquing. It's OK to give your opinion on things, & to admit what you think & whether you like if or not. Especially for something meant fo be fun & light-hearted such as this, the 3rd Annual POTY Awards. Even the name is silly.
RJ
The ANTIC podcast "interviews only" episodes have been great & very interesting. The latest is with Lance Ringquist of Video 61 which is based here in MN & about an hour north of me. Unfortunately he doesnt have an actual walk-in store but I've ordered various items from him in the past, from the XE Light Gun to the Jaguar CD-ROM, & have always been impressed & satisfied with his business. We've also been co-members of S.P.A.C.E. (guessing he still is, i left) & he's a good guy in person too!
RJ
NOMINEES FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL POTY AWARDS: WE MISS YOU- ImplantGames podcast BEST PODCAST INTRO- Zerbinator's "80-89" Podcast Gets you to settle down, settle in, & prepare to be entertained. Though he does numerous podcasts of various topics, this is the one I listen to- fun, professional & well-put together, creepy computer voice & all MOST IRRITATING CO-HOST- Kat Bailey, speaking of a creepy computer voice BEST NEW PINBALL PODCAST- n/a, though I noticed Gameroom Junkies seems almost total pinball talk lately BEST PODCAST TO FFWD THROUGH- No "new" ones come to mind, but RGRup got so uninteresting I unsubbed completely BEST NEW RETROCOMPUTING PODCAST- player/missile BEST NEW OFF-TOPIC PODCAST- Zerb's "80-89 podcast" (though an old game is briefly mentioned) PODCAST OF THE YEAR- sooo close between "player/missile" & "80-89"...Zerb's podcast edges out p/m via professionalism, wit & production (recorded on cassette?) buuuut, does the nominee/winner have to be a "video game" podcast, as our age-old thread title says? WINNER (video game theme): PLAYER/MISSILE PODCAST WINNER (non-gaming theme): ZERB'S 80-89 PODCAST Edited January 2, 2015 by RJ
S1500
Why do I have this feeling you like that 80-89 podcast? My favorite bit is the "Shave & A Haircut" from Atari 2600 Space Invaders.
S1500
All the podcasts started/discovered in 2014. Yes, there were a LOT from all the districts. Abject Suffering - A single-game show that gets derailed by an excessive amount of swearing and off-topic discussion. Brooklyn Bytes - Good cast hosted by a couple that has good pre-crash coverage. Cartridge Freaks - A new podcast that I honestly can’t remember anything about. Wait, I remember now. It’s a podcast! Channel F Files - A ‘cast dedicated to the Fairchild Channel F Coleco Visions - The ColecoVision’s own dedicated podcast. Continue Cast - Just found this whilst browsing Itunes. Also has another 'cast within it called TangentCast which is smaller. . http://continuecast.podomatic.com/ 1 More PodCastle - Hosts can be sometimes obnoxious. Light discussion on retro gaming. What saves it is pre-crash talk.. Edinburough Retro PC - Not a bad little podcast from Scotland. Gaming of the Shrew - One episode entirely consisted of food. There is no retro video game discussion. Intarivisions - The comparison of 1 game on 3 different platforms: atari 2600, Intellivision, and ColecoVision NES Club - A fun discussion forum that doesn’t grow stale. Press Continue - A little good podcast. Great chemistry & humor between the husband & wife hosts. Plenty of pre-crash coverage here. Retro Relapse - Almost too laid back. The exact opposite of the Bailey guy on 1 More Castle. Retro State of Mind - It’s okay I guess. Retro Thought Pod - Subscribed? Not a bad ‘cast overall. RetroObscura - A lot of lesser-known games are covered here. Seattle Retro Gaming Podcast - Jury’s still out on this one. It really needs to be longer than 20 minutes.. SNES Podcast - SoulBlazer’s cast about Super Nintendo games. Single-game format. Sprite Castle - A game-by-game podcast featuring releases for the Commodore 64. Could really use more episodes. Stalking the Retro - It’s a podcast! Stone Age Gamer - Episodes can vary in quality. Some good pre-crash reviews happen, and sometimes it gets sweary in others. Ten Pence Arcade - British podcast that’s a lot like No Quarter. Great arcade game talk with a UK perspective. https://itunes.apple...d791561830?mt=2 Two Dudes and a NES - Great little laid-back podcast about the NES. Hey Justin... 1 game per episode. https://itunes.apple...d812102884?mt=2 Watch out for Fireballs! - Actually started in 2012, 2 hosts go on for 2 hours(sometimes more) about a single game. All Final Fantasy references aside, it’s not a bad podcast: We talk Games - A quasi-retro cast with comedy sketches in the beginning. Pinball Lock is Lit - Still getting its feet wet, but so far so good. Great chemistry between the hosts, and avoids the grumpy old man syndrome associated with pinball. Pinheadz Podcast - This podcast has good chemistry between the down-under hosts and outstanding production values. Pinball Blahcade Fans - A cast focused on The Pinball Arcade by Farsight studios,. But they talk about other topics as well. Nice rapport between the hosts. One and Done - A podcast with a different host each episode. A personal history. Retro Computing Drop /// Inches - A podcast dedicated to the unpopular Apple ///. And we still don’t have a TI podcast? Player/Missile - The second Atari 8-bit podcast on the scene. Game focused. History of Personal Computing - http://www.historyofpersonalcomputing.com/ This one goes really old school! Inverse ATASCII - The 4th Atari podcast! Comprehensive single-host show about productivity software for Atari 8-bit computers. Off-Topic Vintage Volts - Great podcast on old school electronics, where pinball & video games naturally bleed into the topic. Rialto Report - Interviews with porn stars from the 70s and 80s. A perfect candidate for The Throwback Network if not for the topic. Throwback Reviews - 80s nostalgia review about movies/tv/ 80-89 - Zerbinator’s chronicles of the 1980s, recorded on cassette. S1500
OT: Girlfriend and I had a friend over at my house. As she was gathering her items, said friend had a box to a computer game. Hmm. Turn it around, and it's Final Fantasy 7. The game is now making its way into my house. The box got less than 6 inches away form the CCG official studio laptop. thevnaguy
No Intellivisionaries nomination for Podcast of the year? i like the disclaimer for the colecovisions podcast (as performed by Ferg) screw the rest of the intro, just pay attention to Fergs bit. Well I like the intro Aaron over at Retro Obscura did for The ColecoVisions Podcast anyway so there. hee hee
Chris++
No Intellivisionaries nomination for Podcast of the year? They started in 2013, right? Doesn't it have to be new (2014)? There's no Best New Video-Game Podcast category this time, so perhaps people are reckoning Podcast of the Year to mean "new."

S1500
The poddies are year-by-year. Otherwise Serial would just win by popular demand, and that's not even video game related.

S1500
Just $1 a month will get you a 23 minute podcast episode about Majora's Mask, 2 minutes of it consisting of them begging you for more money. What a deal!
playermissile
I've been away from the forums for a bit (and the podcast has been quiet for a while, but episode 7 will be posted this week), so I just want to say thanks for mentioning Player/Missile among all these other great podcasts! Seeing the podcast list reminds me how much I miss Sprite Castle.

S1500
The last Retronauts (re: Zillion) was seven minutes of Jeremy reading from a script. Your patreon dollars at work. I set a new record for "fresh podcasts" play list length: 4 days. That's 96 hours of new podcasts to listen to. Most of that is TOPCast episodes still, not some super-episode of Broken Token. The drought is over. My last download session consisted of 19 episodes.

That's 96 hours of new podcasts to listen to. Most of that is TOPCast episodes still, not some super-episode of Broken Token. The drought is over. My last download session consisted of 19 episodes. Never had a drought, as between the new episodes coming out weekly or monthly of my favorite podcasts and finding new ones to listen to I can last for aprox 7 hours a day of podcasting at work. Right now for example I'm listening to a Watch Out For Fireballs every day. Love that podcast.

+Rick Reynolds
Thanks for the kind words about Holiday Special Podcast! I really enjoyed putting those episodes out there. I'm cooking up a couple more things for the winter/spring months, so be sure to keep the feed in your podcatcher/thingy!
RJ
This week's Retronauts Micro episode actually runs almost 20 minutes- "Bad Purchasing Decisions". They manage to squeeze 4 people into the show, including my favorite female sex robot, Kat Bailey. I figure this leaves everyone involved about 3-4 minutes each to state their case & tell their tale, with some time left over for their usual mooching & moneygrubbing.
