luckybuck
Hi! Yes, me too! Atari Home Finance-Fall 1980: Seems to be complete on it's own as a cart. Heard rumors, that it worked with CX406, but I have seen the backside of the box. It is just 2 disks new for us. There seems to be from Control Data. Enlargement for the "Atari Investment Analysis Series" Will return, when I know more and allowed to share with here.
Atari8bitCarts
I'm the owner of the cartridge (it's my avatar). It says CheckBook, but the chips are marked PF 1980 (the code also have "Home Finance" labels in it). See AtariAge post on Checkbook, thanks. If you find anything out, I'm very interested. sup8pdct
We are totally in the dark, a picture of the back of the box, like this one here from CX401: CX401-back.jpg for the requirements would be extremely useful. :-))))))))) Please take into account, the need for the 815!!!!!!!!! For everyone's info. Check book is part of the disks. Basic cart is required to run this. Back of the folder of mine is different. As the 815 was not officially released, the 810 version was done. Added scan of the rear of my folder. James
luckybuck
Will raise a site in the AtariWiki, please stand by. Thanks to James, we wil be able to solve a 34 year mystery, What a moment and we are part of it.
Atari8bitCarts
Will raise a site in the AtariWiki, please stand by. Thanks to James, we wil be able to solve a 34 year mystery, What a moment and we are part of it. What mystery did you solve? PFMS was already understood and we had it running. And yes, basic was a part of the requirements. The real mystery is that Atari advertised a Personal Finance Cartridge identified as CXL8001. That number was never formally released, yet a cartridge showed up and was advertised. You're confusing two different products, and the wiki entry is incorrect. You show screen shots that I made of my cart with the disk based 1981 version. Now Home Finance is a different story that I'd like to know more about. luckybuck
It is not me, who solved the mystery, it was James by posting an image from the back of the box. Before that time, I had the info from a reliable source, that your cart was part of the box. Now, thanks to James, we do know better. :-)) Your cart remains to me a mystery. The above picture from the box, may belong to your cart. I think about making a site in the Wiki about that. Anyway, only an Atari employee can solve everything around your cart. A big thank you goes to you, too, for sharing the cart. :-))) The CX406 box belongs to my mind to: Atari Investment Analysis Series: Bond Analysis CX8106 (1980) (Basic) Mortgage & Loan Analysis CX4115 (1980) (Basic) Stock Analysis CX8107 (1980) (Basic) Stock Charting CX8108 (1980) (Basic) CDC-Logo.png Control Data Corporation – Wikipedia.webloc The question remains, why that big box, while the above one were sold the "normal" way... luckybuck
As I have written: " The picture above is from some advertising(?) Fall 1980 " I am not sure, have searched a lot through my archive: 165 GB... Give me some time. If it is from a source, which I have to protect, then I am sorry. Let me make the site first. Now I really need some sleep...
+hunmanik
According to this Atari ad, Atari was still trying to get PFMS out the door by "mid-1982". While according to ANALOG #9, PFMS was actually pulled from the market in mid-1982. Makes for a very brief window of time when it would have been available! luckybuck
Hi hummanik, thanks for uploading. Funny to read. But in my opinion post #28 from James gives the right answer: it is from 1981. Take for example Calculator, it is from 1979 and was sold 2 years later. In one sentence: Atari doesn't want the business programs to be out for the people. The main emphasize was put on games. Therefore Atari was the 'Game Computer'. Meanwhile it is proven, that this is not the fact. CX406 will come to light, please stand by. Up to that time, please take a look here: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Articles#section-Articles-Applications
+hunmanik
And then when mid-1982 came around, they pushed back the anticipated release date one more time, to first quarter 1983..
luckybuck
:-) Thanky you very much! :-))) Funny to read, so again(!) it took Atari 2 years to release programs, that were already finished... What a management... Else, the pressure from IBM was too big...
