_The Doctor__
fuzzy, false, weak, bad sectors, phantom sectors, bad sector links, hidden allocation tables, custom loaders that follow link embedded in the sector, timing comparison protection..... and so on and so on and so on.... +bob1200xl
Sector 22 seems to be on the disk 3 times and you have to read them all. Even though Chipmunk could patch the code, I'm not sure how it could get around multiple sectors. Anyway, there must be a cracked version of Letter Wizard somewhere! fujidude
I don't think so. A PRO image is readable on a PRO interface from Atarimax using APE. This has been asked before, can you use a PRO image to write a real disk. No, I think. You can't write bad sectors or the miriad of copy protection schemes on a stock Atari disk drive, or an emulated drive. Okay in an emulator like Altirra that supports .pro images... mount the .pro image if that's all you have available. Use a sector copy to copy the disk to a blank .atr. The .atr will not be usable in this condition of course. Run Chipmunk on it. Chipmunk "patches" the software on the disk so that it does not look for or notice any problem with the copy of the disk, and theoretically should work fine. +Ripdubski
letter wizard.atr Bob, I can't remember when or where I got this one, but it seems to work. Have Letter Wizard, but Spell Wizard is on a separate disk. As for the Chipmunk instructions, which disk is it wanting when it asks for the PARAMETER DISK? Figured out the PARAMETER question. Tried both options for Spell Wizard, neither worked. Looking at the data from Chipmunk the entries are: 3520 DATA SPELL WIZARD,1,679,77 3530 DATA SPELL WIZARD,3,452,453,454,17,18,81 Not sure if they are correct or not for the image I have (pro from above). A PRO image has already defeated, or rather emulated, the copy protection scheme, so I don't think you can do a Chipmunk on it. Someone already tried. That leaves the Black Patch fix. The thing is, we need someone with a real 'Spell Wizard' to make a patch of it.

ACML
They do not work - almost, but when you Correct the file, the text is garbage. Bob Which ones? The ones in post #22 or #33. I guess it could be both if they came from the same source.
+bob1200xl
No, actually #22 works OK, #33 does not. I thought I tried #22, but obviously I didn't. Not only that, but I found a disk with Spell Wizard on it that also works. So, request is completed - use post #22. Bob

olavese@online.no
I usually use DOS 2.6f to copy single density disks ... I do this before running Chipmunk. I think my Chipmunk disks have a routine to write to disk code that skips the protection. I don't think I ever used Chipmunk to copy the disks. DOS 2.6f will skip bad sectors, but can take quite a long time, if it has the nastier tracks. But will do it if you have the time
olavese@online.no
There's no Spell Wizard it looks like. Try the ones on my site : http://pokeysoft.no/games/atari/a8util.htm Search for Chipmunk and also Black Patch (and use the patches after you copied the disk, if you can find any that would do this disk)

+DjayBee
Here is a set of two different versions; each cracked and as an ATX.The ones with "(a)" in their name are derived from the Atarimania dump. The ones without are modified .PROs from post #2 of this thread. The dictionary disks are identical except for one sector. I guess that this is the result of a bad disk, but I don't know which one is the good one.
