Davvel
I don´t think - in times of 3D-printing and estimated ~99 TI-fans - that a chinese fabric will spit out cart-shells But we will be able to to that on our own, very cheap, and very easy, and soon. Very true.
Davvel
On the cartridge boards with the Atmel 1284 (used by the XB 2.7 suite)--it is possible to change the programs in the GROM portion (on the 1284) relatively easily using Tursi's loader program. Anything that uses the 512K of ROM needs to be burned in externally. There is no disk-on-a-cart capability today using any of the existing cartridge boards. They were designed to put a lot of software onto a single cartridge--not to act as a development platform. There IS a cartridge that does allow you to load new software to it at will, however: the Wiesbaden Supermodul II. I have a backburner plan to make some more of those, as I have permission to do so from the original designer (Sven Dyroff). It acts as a GRAM device with 40K of GRAM and 32K of bank-switched RAM. The newer boards do a lot more than that--but in a different direction. As I think the Supermodul II is still a very useful device, I'll get to replicating it in the next year or so--once I complete the other projects ahead of it in my project queue. That is excellent. I am amazed on how healthy & skilled the TI community still is. I hope to become a solid contributor.
+Schmitzi
Hi, do you think this can run on the TI, with a special or the "usual" Atari-adapter ? (please see the cable, it already IS adapted )
+Ksarul
The only way to be sure is to test it. . .but it may need 5V of active power, which is not available on the TI port--that's why the WICO Trackball needs an external power supply on the TI.
Iwantgames:)
Also that tape on the cord would worry me. Might be a good idea to replace the cord

There is a very simple mod on Nouspikel's site to bring 5V out to the joystick port. It's a great help for those looking at interfacing stuff with the TI.

+acadiel
Who the heck was fighting over the 99/8? (Besides KL99)? Wow. We could probably pay an engineer to replicate the system for that :-)
+Ksarul
It had lots of neat little tidbits that made it worth that much to me too--and I was one of the bidders, but I didn't get a bid in at the end as work pulled me away at just the wrong moment for me--and just the right time for the winner. I was monitoring it ad well like a football game and wondering for how much it went as there is another article on internet about a /8 that went for around USD 3000+ ... But on eBay I just saw star wars collections being posted for USD 78000 and a few more for USD 14000+

globeron
Is that even possible? I'm willing to invest into such an endeavour for sure! Probably you know this already, but you can experience the operating system of the /8 using a MESS system --> now it should be MAME. I am rebuilding my MESS system at the moment on Windows 10....my PC-motherboard crashed as it was not designed as a solid TI :-) and re-installed Windows 10 x 3 = Windows 30 already) Other ATARI AGE Forum for /8 http://atariage.com/forums/topic/152434-texas-instruments-ti-998-and-other-unreleased/ Other good /8 resources * http://www.ninerpedia.org/index.php/TI-99/8 * http://www.99er.net/998.html Dumping /8 ROMs: * https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8Pisj3rDbo *

Opry99er
Marc is selling his GROM box. That is a cool unit, and you can count on it having been handled with care. Wish I had $250 to blow
