high voltage
I gave PictureMate to ....can't remember.... same guy who done (dumped) SongMate. Thing was, the Pictureate tape had some reading problems (yes, mine was nib, so there you go, deterition perhaps, even nib doesn't save tapes). toymailman
Here are some nice scans of the PictureMate instructions. I'll try to find a way to read in the tape as a WAV file.
toymailman
I do not believe Picturemate has been dumped. Mitch I have a WAV file that has all of Side A on it of PictureMate. Side B is blank so a user can save pictures to it. I counted 22 tracks in all. Unfortunately, it is 136MB so it too large to post here. Ideas of how to get this to the community? +Mitch
I think the dump of songmate was MP3 format but I have never tested it personally. Mitch
toymailman
It wasn't too bad to break up the large WAV file. Below are all 22 tracks of PictureMate. Omegamatrix
That's cool, Toymailman! If possible, would you be able to do the same for Songmate? The dump we have now is mp3, and if it's dumped in .wav it is much better.
toymailman
Sure. I'll open up one of mine and hope its a good one.
alex_79
Cool! Thanks for sharing those dumps!By looking at the waveform (I used Audacity), you can figure out how the data is stored. 2 tones are used to record the binary data:- 1 cycle of a sinewave at about 1300 Hz- 2 cycles of sinewave at about 2600 HzAssuming that the lower freq corresponds to a '0' and the higher one to a '1' bit, the data format is the following:1 '0' start bit (green)8 data bits (gray - we don't know if they are sent from least to most significant bit or the other way around)4 '1' stop bits (red). The first about 10 seconds on each track is probably an header to sync the software in the compumate with the cassette. It follows the same format described above, but all the data bits are '1'.In this picture you can see a detail of the end of the header and the beginning of the actual data. Amstari
Ah yes, my SongMate was dumped by the guy who's nick I cannot remember way back. That was me. SongMate worked fine but PictureMate had read errors. So it is great to see it has now been dumped!
