Atarian7
So I can use my Stargate cartridge if that's all I have? I think I have both and it's my understanding that they are the same game.
Mister-VCS
62,050 ...to avoid confusion the topic-title should be changed to Defender II/Stargate very hard game - I use the CX-40 in combination with the "euro-pad"

Lauren Tyler
Basically, the game was originally released as Stargate. When the game was released in 1985 by Atari Corporation in the silver label variation, Stargate was still the title. After the game ceased production in arcades, the game was retitled Defender II so that Williams Electronics could retain the trademarks to the game. As a result, when Atari Corporation started releasing the red label variations, the game was re-released as Defender II. I remember reading that Atari Corporation's programmers had to create a new title screen for the red label version.

I'll have another good week discovering a "new" Atari game. Edited April 4, 2016 by LidLikesIntellivision
Lauren Tyler
13,000 I still remember reading about Defender II for the Atari 2600 and thinking, 'Must've been a pretty cheesy port, considering how awful Defender was.' What a difference a larger amount of memory makes, as well as coming up with the novel idea of using TWO joysticks for game control!

Atarian7
Stargate is a very tight fit in my heavy sixer. Maybe I should try my Defender II cartridge. Anyone else have this problem?

Scrabbler15
27,400 Every time I see a person on the radar being picked up by an alien, I turn into my alter ego, Ambulance Driver Man. I turn on my siren and go careening down the space corridor at full speed to rescue that helpless person. Then I remember that my spaceship doesn't have a siren and it usually ends up in a crash like like you see on the nightly news. JacobZu7zu7
Stargate is a very tight fit in my heavy sixer. Maybe I should try my Defender II cartridge. Anyone else have this problem? Some games are made a bit too big for Atari consoles. This copy maybe is a newer one, the carts with visable pins? I'd use the D II cart. My copy fits just fine, and no bloated waistline, but I should play to make sure.

+TwentySixHundred
Defender II Game: 1BB Score: 39,350 Well after playing it for awhile and trying to work out how to use smart bombs ect (im used to the original defender) i just settled to regular lazer fire and dodging enemies managed to get the score of 39,350. As im writing this i have looked through the comments and read the manual only to find out i need to use joystick 2 aswell . Not really excited to give it a go as i think playing with both controllers will cause more mistakes however i might. Anyway this is my score sofar using only the left joy Edited March 31, 2016 by Tony The 2600
