GroovyBee
What do you get if you mash together graveyards, zombies, 2 player mowing and rainbows? The answer is ZOMBOW :- <---- Click to animate This was my entry into AC2017's speed coding contest that was held over Easter weekend in France. The game was done in under 29 hours (with breaks). Its not completely finished, but is quite playable. The contest theme (known in advance) was a cooperative game and the extra part added for the weekend was to use colours. The objectives of the game are as follows:- Mow as much grass as possible OR Touch as many rainbow coloured gravestones as possible OR Touch the least number of zombies as possible If you are touched by a zombie, you return to your starting corner and are stunned for 2 seconds. Then remain invincible to zombies until you move again. Gravestones are placed randomly for every level to add replayability. Still to be done :- Animate the characters. Add sound effects and title page music. Add a menu to select the game style. Look at adding ECS support for a 4 player game. Add "lawn complete" logic. Add a "The winner is..." screen after the lawn has been mowed. The final game will be made available free of charge on Hive only.
+intellivotion
you might start filling the stack of carts you hoarded during the years with new boards with Zombow. Why not? just my 2 cents... uh, sorry, my 2 pence
GroovyBee
you might start filling the stack of carts you hoarded during the years with new boards with Zombow. Why not? just my 2 cents... uh, sorry, my 2 pence Its a nice idea but its not going to happen. The game needs 2 players (or more - if the ECS version works out) in order to play, so its definitely a party game. Unfortunately, I don't really have any desire to add a computer AI opponent.

tacrec
Zombies would be a good sports team name, but I can't imagine they would be very fast...

You know, if you need inspiration, I would suggest you make the game about zombies.
Rev
Is this game inspired from any other game? I know it has mowing similar to HB. Its a cool looking little game.
tacrec
An Inty version of a zombie growl would be hilarious. Isn't there already a game with a lion roar or something in it? I remember the sound but not where it's from.

GroovyBee
From the to do list:- Animate the characters - Done - Animated zombies only. Add sound effects and title page music - Done - Sound effects only. Add a menu to select the game style - Done. Add "lawn complete" logic - Done. Add a "The winner is..." screen after the lawn has been mowed - Done. If I go back and add title page music I'll look into adding ECS support too. As far as I'm concerned the game is now good enough to be included on Hive Deluxe.Heres a video of the game as it stands now :-
