My fellow High Score Club Players.

The first 5 weeks have been filled with GREAT games! We have all been spoiled.

After this week... we may not get the GREAT games. There were 100's of mediocre or bad games for the Atari 2600...

But.... we must play... we must endure... we must conquer ALL!

Good Luck and happy playing!

I'm very rusty, but it's a good first try score.

Thanks to my aunt who gave me the game as birthday gift when I was 8 years old.

She asked my brother which I'd like more Frostbite or Adventure. She was inclined to get Adventure but my brother convinced her of Frostbite.

At that age, we liked to play as well drawn characters as Pitfall, Keystone Kappers, Smurf. Poor Adventure' square couldn't get our preference.

1) 308,160

2) 346,360

3) 413,590

4) 482,540

5) 497,410

By the way, this is the image of an Activision Atari frostbite cartridge. Frostbite is one of the few cartridge I own.

Looking at my high score record sheet apparently I once got 91,450 in Frostbite some years ago, but going back and playing it again now I have no idea how the heck I did it. This game seems ridiculously hard and more frustrating than fun, so I think this single score submission will probably be it for me this round.

Frostbite (B/B Difficulty, Game 1): 22,370

92330 points getting better, but no big expectations on this 2 games, as a kid just played briefly and then passed, the shooter games were my bread and meat back then:Time Pilot, Galaxian, Demon Attack, River Raid, Phoenix, Megamania, spider fighter; and of course the all mighty Dig Dug )

Lid, your score is good for a "Twin Galaxies World Record" if you wanna go get that. I have my own doubts about the value of such a thing, but if I had the skill to beat one of their records I would probably dance their dance just to say I did it.

Also, is anyone here good with Google Spreadsheets, or Excel? I would eat a raw kitten for a spreadsheet that kept up with scores and had a line graph that plotted scores and the average score over time. I'd like to say I would learn enough to get this done but my Magic 8 Ball says the chances are slim.

KaeruYojimbo built up a great database.

He started a thread here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/239007-atari-2600-hsc-online-database/

If you visit his site you can search for games, players, HSC seasons...

It's good that I currently hold the high score in the AtariAge HSC with 552,590.

Oyamafamily is close behind with 526,300.

Since I am the record holder of the HSC, I'm already in the top of the most important Atari 2600 world competition. :)

Once I made a video but my phone stopped recording after 30 minutes.
So it stops around 460k.

Wow :? My Skiing run felt good on the original atari/activision PAL hardware, being an aussie. I noticed some of the other scores were already seconds faster. How can then be? So I jumped on Stella, started the PAL version of Skiing and ran the same path I use. Around the same time. Doh  . I then ran then NTSC version on Stella using my same path, with only a handful of runs. 23.81 :-o Near on 5 seconds faster on the same path. Plus.. I think one of the trees seemed to be in a slightly different horizontal position, causing me to do another tap side-wards.

PAL vs NTSC framerate differences surely can't account for the huge time differences ... can they? Don't forget ... I played an original PAL cart on a PAL Vader and then the PAL rom on Stella with the same-ish times. So its not my hardware. Interesting :? . Food for thought. :)

Definitely time to improve once the brain shuts off ;) Pity its on emulation though

#EDIT#. Hold on!!!! (sorry to hijack!). I'm a fan of the atari kwik twitch games like Dragster/Barnstorming/Skiing. Recently at home I equaled the twin galaxies listed record for Skiing, on Game 1, at 32.72. I just realize that I played that on the original PAL cart and my PAL Vader :? So does that mean the PAL cart of Skiing ... runs differently on Game 7??? I need a beer :skull: . Sorry to hijack ... but I thought other PAL players may be affected. Cheers.

If this query looks like it will turn into back and forth banter, I'll move the query out of this thread instantly.

At HighScore.com, I saw the following message in Scottithgames (Scott Stilphen) Message History:

"Since Liduario is from Brazil, I'm guessing he used the PAL version."

Scott guessed wrong because the Atari games manufactured in Brazil, like Liduario's Frostbite Game Program made by POLYVOX, is NTSC Version!!

I inserted on my Prosystem 7800 console the following 2600 Game Programs made in Brazil by Polyvox: Defender, Yars' Revenge, Pole Position, Enduro, OINK, Kangaroo, Space Tunnel (Spacemaster X-7), Frostbite, Mr. Chin (Dishaster) and Galaxian. And I noticed these cartridges are NTSC Format while I was having fun.
