Under my fingernail itches but I can't scratch it because there's this stupid fingernail in the way.
      1. carlsson

How far in? Perhaps a pencil or gently scratching with a precision screwdriver would work. Watch out though so you don't injure yourself.
      2. atari2600land

I used the end of a twistie tie I had laying around. I don't know why it itches, though. I guess skin anywhere can itch.

I used to get pain under my nails until I started cleaning them regularly. I researched that there can be fungus under the nails. The nail clippers with the little "pick" thing are hard to find. I mightve gotten mine on Amazon.

First I want to say a very big Thank You for the XB Compiler you created.  While using it I ran into an issue I hope you can help me with.  I have a program called MarbleMaze.  It loads a screen that was saved by using CALL GCHAR, then putting on a file on disk.  When I compile the XB program the screen loads with an extra character on the left side of the screen.  This then loses the character on the right side of the screen thus does not display properly.  It all works fine in Extended Basic.  Any help would be appreciated.  Let me know if you need additional info.
      1. senior_falcon

I would need to see the XB program. Also, a screenshot or two would be helpful so I know what to look for.
If you are reading from disk, remember that the only disk format supported is Display, Variable. The length can be anything.
      2. RedBaron

Ok Thanks.  Yes, the file I was trying to load is an Internal Fixed 40.  That is the issue.  I love your Compile program and plan on using it to compile my BOXMAN program for the TI.  I must have missed that part looking through the Documents.

    • Now it's time to look at the frame to see what is wrong with it and get it fixed up.  The stripped screw hole is the main issue, but there are other ones too.  It's really difficult to get a good picture but here are closeups of both of the holes.  The first image is the stripped hole.  You can see how smooth it is as the threads have been sheared off.  And also notice the heavy mark around the hole that was probably caused by the shoulder of the screw.   There was a lot of pressure on this to basically rip the screw out.     This next image is of the hole on the other side of the frame.  This one you can still see the screw threads are intact so it doesn't need a bushing. '   Although there is an issue with this side as well.  This next image shows how the frame has been pulled so hard that it bent the frame outwards, just not hard enough to strip the threads.  I'm going to attempt to hammer it back in place, it should only take a couple of well placed taps.      The last issue is a spot of rust that is located just right below the CRT.  At first I was thinking that this might have been caused by a leaky capacitor on one of the CRT PCBs.  But when I looked at the underside of the CRT there is another rust spot just right below the CRT screen front.  Maybe this was caused by some kind of condensation from the CRT tube, or maybe just from cleaner being used to clean the monitor glass?     Here is the rust spot on the CRT...     Also I'm going to give it a good clean.
    • How are people getting rates like 300,000 per second? I have a PC with an i9 processor, 10 core, 20 threads, up to 5ghz and only get around 10 to 15000 per second.
    • For what it's worth, the RK3588 is a decent performer, comparable to chips like the Dimensity 900 and Snapdragon 845, both of which are way more powerful than the Amico was ever likely to be. It's the sort of thing you'd be looking for if you were buying an Android gaming/emulation handheld in the $150-250 price range, depending on their other features. There were a fair few announced last year, even, although I don't think any of them have got to shipping yet.   That said, they retail in bulk for around $20, there are SBCs (e.g. Orange Pi5) that cost from around $60 using them, and quite where the added value comes from to get up to a $250 "console" for the living room is anyone's guess. It's only an extra $50 to get a Series S or Switch from that point and, even if you never play anything but indie games on them, you're still getting a vastly better class of those.
    • I finished Tibet over the weekend. Monks, Ice Palace, Yetis. I remembered one part clearly, in a dark giant room with cages of Yeti, but some of this I didn’t remember at all. I started to wonder if I level skipped some of it, bitd.     I started the Xiang Temple stages last night, Lara is back at the Great Wall, and I didn’t remember much here either until I ran into some giant spiders, I did have a vague recollection of that.  It’s lengthy and complicated and good thing you can save anywhere, because there are traps galore.
    • I have an Atari 800 XL that has very strange behaviour. When I turn it on, I get a black screen.  Power cycle multiple types, I sometimes get a blue screen, but no BASIC Ready. I put in a cart, like my AVG and it works perfectly all the time.   This Atari 800 XL was recapped a couple years ago.  I'm using a good modern PSU (based on MeanWell 5VDC PSU), all the ICs were removed, sockets deoxite cleaned. All the RAM chips and 74 logic chips were tested in my Retro Chip Tester Pro and are good.   But here's the insane part.   - The system can boot into the diag menu and passes all the tests - If I turn off the system after running for 2 mins, pull the AVG cart, and turn the system back on, Basic boots perfectly fine! Turn it off.. come back after 5 mins .. back to black screen.   Thoughts?
