Can anybody link me to how the heck crazy climber controls? I have a stick for it, but I'm garbage, and attract mode is zero help.
      1. ZippyOasys

It's a twin-stick arcade game akin to Robotron, one joystick controls the left arm & leg of the climber. Another joystick controls the climber's right arm & leg. Here's a gameplay video from Phosphor Dot Fossils, he explains how the game is controlled as he plays the game.

Refactored my Atari 8-bit Multi-Tool (AEMT) for: a) Hierarchical command support, b) Enabled independent use of split, cart, and config (.cfg functions), and c) Modularization.  And still, after 45 years of coding, finding it takes longer to make such tools useable for others than it does to implement the core functionality.  First release this weekend.

I don't believe in pessimism. If something doesn't come up the way you want, forge ahead. If you think it's going to rain, it will.
      1. Random Terrain

It better rain. We need rain if we want a moist country. Nobody likes a dry country.
      2. shane857

A good balance of rain and sunshine...
      3. bent_pin

I combat pessimistic thoughts by putting a dollar in a jar whenever I have one. The jar is currently half-empty.

    • For those wanting straight..  Cote Gamers sells a nice internal DB9 adapter kit for the 2609..      https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/137-long-play-disc-controller-adapter-for-intellivision-1.html     from there you could do a few things..     1. I sell a Flashback to INTV adapter kit and can (on request if i have things in stock, which I usually do) which would let you use the INTV Flashback (straight cord) controllers with your 2609. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1704689405/flashback-to-intellivision-controller   2. you could buy a cote longplay controller (or two) which isn't the classic design but a pretty good alternative as well.  I have one and I like it.   3. get some original sears controllers and hook those up.  Tougher to find and a little more $$$ or luck but it's not impossible to find them.   4. Involved, but you could cut part of the coiled wire and solder the 9 wires to a straight extension cord.     I think changing the wires on the flex circuit itself would be a bit more tricky and likely to make things worse which is why I don't recommend that approach, but some folks out there could do it, but not me
    • After spending half the night yesterday troubleshooting and looking for a workaround, here are my results: The PlusCart sends a HTTP/1.0 request, because I didn't want to parse the chunked content of the HTTP/1.1 responses. It looks like my hoster has changed the Webserver/PHP configuration so that it always response with an HTTP/1.1 response (even though a 1.0 should always be responded with 1.0). A chunked HTTP/1.1 response doesn't has a Content-Length header, because every chunk has a size indication. But the Content-Length header and a not chunked content is needed by the PlusCart to parse the response.   I haven't found a workaround to force the Webserver to respond with 1.0 (or a not chunked 1.1) to the PlusCart requests to PHP, only for static html files I can force this.   I have wrote an email to the hoster to explain the issue, but they responded that they will need up to 72 hours to investigate what is going on.
    • Howdy all!   I recently retrieved an Atari 800XL and a 1050 drive from the parents loft.   The 1050 worked once and then the motor died - replaced the 47uf caps and it's alive again!   Just tried a Star Raiders cartridge and the 800XL went to self test. Powered off and now it just sits on blue screen with white cursor - I never get Ready on screen.   Any pointers where to start troubleshooting?   EDIT: Just to add.. now when I try the cartridge I just get a black screen (not no signal).   Cheers!
    • You keep your wife happy. Most of those making fun are either in the same boat and trying to pretend they're not, not married, or not happily married. Most wives are extremely wonderful, as long as they're in full control of our balls. My wife gives mine back to me whenever she determines I need them. That arrangement has worked out really well for us for over 15 years and she takes much better care of them than I ever did!
    • Thanks  for showing the fixed version on the show James,   I caught the stream this morning on catch up, it was a late night too many for me this week unfortunately so I couldn't be there to cheer you both on!     I just wanted to add, this demo starts the player on tower 2 (Tower 1 is skipped for this demo as the focus was really on getting feedback on the other towers).    Thanks for pointing out the glitch with the frame grab, that's really helpful to pinpoint. I'll add it to the (now much smaller) list of things to fix.   Also just noted on 2-5 you needed to restart, you can do a long hold of button 1 to restart the level (uses up a try). I'll add that to the in-game instructions.   (Toilet = Homage to Jet Set Willy and the late, great Joffa Smith).
    • I afraid I'm going to have to bow out. Last night my Vectrex stopped working whilst playing Scramble.  The graphics stretched out for about 10 seconds, then shrunk to normal size. I switched the console off and when I switched it back on I got a humming sound with some flickering on screen then nothing.  I switched it on again an hour later and there was the humming with flickering but that also went to nothing. Now I get nothing at all. I don't really want to start messing around with the insides like I did with my old second Vectrex which I have since sold.  My laptop is also not working so I can't play via emulation either.  I will get it sorted at some point, it's just not a priority at his time.   Anyone know of a good repair service in the UK? Preferably in the south.
    • for the DiskCopy option, I always created different folders with all possible formats SSSD, DSSD, SSDD, DSDD, and 50 empty disk images in each folder as you thought indeed. Better to use the same empty image format of the disk so that you will save time because otherwise, the system will need to format the images if it recognizes a different format among the Original and the backup image.  I hope you will succeed . Archival and preserving material is also my passion.
