Can anybody link me to how the heck crazy climber controls? I have a stick for it, but I'm garbage, and attract mode is zero help.
      1. ZippyOasys

It's a twin-stick arcade game akin to Robotron, one joystick controls the left arm & leg of the climber. Another joystick controls the climber's right arm & leg. Here's a gameplay video from Phosphor Dot Fossils, he explains how the game is controlled as he plays the game.

Refactored my Atari 8-bit Multi-Tool (AEMT) for: a) Hierarchical command support, b) Enabled independent use of split, cart, and config (.cfg functions), and c) Modularization.  And still, after 45 years of coding, finding it takes longer to make such tools useable for others than it does to implement the core functionality.  First release this weekend.

I don't believe in pessimism. If something doesn't come up the way you want, forge ahead. If you think it's going to rain, it will.
      1. Random Terrain

It better rain. We need rain if we want a moist country. Nobody likes a dry country.
      2. shane857

A good balance of rain and sunshine...
      3. bent_pin

I combat pessimistic thoughts by putting a dollar in a jar whenever I have one. The jar is currently half-empty.

    • When it loaded to a self test I ran a mem test and it seemed to be ok. Doesn't mean it hasn't died since then mind you! Yeah MT RAM. Also there is some corrosion on 5th pin down of the keyboard ribbon cable which I gave a bit of a clean with IPA - not sure if that would stop Option key from working, because I can't get it to go into a self test using Option on boot.   I'm out now for the rest of the day so will have to pick this up again tomorrow!   Cheers for the fast reply!
    • Another post from me and maybe a little too off topic, so please forgive me, but I wanted to share.    It's a collecting thing but not for the 2600 Plus, it definitely won't fit in the cartridge slot or either joystick port.   An Atari 50 Vinyl.   I'm looking forward to seeing what the music is like, I wanted an Atari music product and here it is. I would have preferred a cassette. Note to Atari, much cheaper to produce!   An interesting track list, but not what I expected. I was thinking more perhaps a chip tune or electronic music album, maybe music from the Recharged series and more from the same artists.   I'll share pics when it arrives next month, if I'm permitted of course. 😋
    • Added!       "Oddly enough Kermit doesn’t run away from the altar in the movie, but it wouldn’t be much of a game if he just stood there."  AtariProtos.com
    • PLCC's are discontinued as well.  The only thing available is the ez80.  It's a 100 pin SMD micro controller.
    • What are the system specs? Is it a 386 SX? We had a 386 SX-16 back in the day, and you'd be surprised how much quicker you can make it if you upgrade some of the things in it. The same principles apply then as they do today.   - Upgrade the graphics card... I don't know what kind you have in there now. Maybe some generic VGA card like a TSeng Labs or an Oak Technologies or something. If you go with a high-end ATI with like 1mb of memory (minimum), you'll probably get much better graphics performance. Believe it or not, this still does have a direct affect on the frame rate for games like DOOM. When the graphics "skips" then it's the monitor. If the whole thing moves really, really slow... then it's the processor. This is good: https://www.ebay.com/itm/326019278032, and this is better: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266758711367, $50 or $150.   - Memory... my guess is you have 1mb of memory in there, maybe four 256k SIMMs? Look on the SIMMs and see what the "speed" is for those. Generally, you want at least 70ns RAM chips, but 60ns was the bomb back then (that means good in 90s speak). Most of the time, you're going to have 80ns CHIPs. The lower number the better (I'm sure you know this already, but just saying it anyway). You generally will want 4mbs. You can go up to 8, but 4 is really all you'll ever use at that speed. You can get exactly this here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/155045342274  (4, 1mb 60ns RAM chips). $24.99   - Hard Drive... if you are still using an IDE magnetic disk, you can purchase what's called a DISK ON MODULE, or DOM. It plugs directly into your normal IDE slot, and even uses the normal MOLEX power cable. It replaces the hard drive, and gives you the maximum allowed (under your current BIOS / OS) of 512mb storage. They are lightning fast, and limited only by the throughput of standard IDE. Basically... loading times will be half of what they are now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295101618394 $6.99
    • Even the idea that the protagonist is not a Yar, who's very likely to be discovered on that mission, but a human with a secret connection to the Yars, kind of like a chosen one with powers routed in both worlds, is a perfect choice. Turning the original Yars gameplay into hacking sections, much like the Cyberspace in System Shock, is pretty genius and absolutely not something you could just "slap" on any generic Metroidvania game. All this shows that the people who thought up this game deeply care about the concept and lore of the original and conceptualized the game to be exactly like this from the start.
    • I'm not going to say.. ill let the winner post that if he wants. Lets just say he will like it I'm sure.   I think it was funny that some put in joke-guesses. If they knew what the prize was, im sure they would have entered a legit try. You were correct by the way Morpheus! One of the packages was the Loot Box that was sent to Italy. Shipping has gotten so crazy!
