..and it always seems to me that burns are hit and miss. My particular Jag Cd unit is perfect at reading everything if it's readable. And I have bought a brand new blu-ray/dvd/cd burner for my PC.

since Gunstar told me about Jiffi I've been collecting a free freebies from here and JS2. Using the wonderful ULS boot.cdi option.

I can't get the following to work and wondered if I was doing them right.

The maxx from .JAG
Reactris from .abs (I could only get the Reactris title screen to show)
Zdemo from .abs
and
Zero4 from .abs

the final 2 I have no idea what they actaully are and if they're worth having(?)

I'm using discjuggler on the lowest speed with the setting that Jiffi suggests, RAW etc.

I'm using Verbatim CD-Rs.

New Tempest game in the works for Atari 8-bit

I have in the works another Tempest Game for the Atari 8-bit. It is essentially an upgrade version of Tempest Xtreem with enhancements amd features. It Runs on any 64K or more Atari 8-bit such as 800XL, 65XE, 130XE, expanded 600XL. It needs to disable the OS/ROM and replace it with RAM through PortB (54017, $D301). It also takes advantage of computers with hardware enhancements like VBXE and Stereo Pokey

Features include.
Webs with more lanes (nodes), can be anywhere from 12 to 24 lanes. Webs with more lanes are more challenging.
More Web shapes available. 96 webs now included.
Random or Sequential Web order.
Lane Highlighting
Game Pause
Game Restart

VBXE: When detected, game will switch to 320x192 mode and overlay VBXE blitter multicolored sprites.

Standard Atari Graphic sprites are the same as those for Tempest Xtreem. I may touch them up. But there is only so much you can do with player / missile graphics.

Stereo Pokey. Songs were encoded with 8 voices. But if single Pokey, it still plays mono just fine.

I am working on fine tuning the animations used in the game to get them closer to the arcade.

It probably will be going onto a 256K XEGS cartridge with EPROM. I know some had a problem when we used Atarimax carts for Tempest Xtreem. I would prefer not to use cartridges with flash memory.

I got a light sixer from a friend today and I can't get it to power up proper. So of course I took it apart to see if anything jumped out at me. The TV is getting a signal but all carts give the same screen. Black with a blue line down the left side.

The mother board had a metal case that I couldn't get it out of so I did not do a 100% visual inspection of it. I did try a different cord but that was all. I was wanting a good way to clean the slot. I would like to think a good cleaning may help it out. The best cleaning I did was an alcohol saturated cart.

Any one have any ideas on what to do with this little guy?

520ST Floppy Drive Belt

Hello:

I'm brand new to the Atari ST world, and I've just acquired a 520STFM. It has a bad floppy drive. However, it appears that the only thing wrong with it is the drive belt -- it's very loose and worn. Is there any place that sells replacement belts? Or does anyone know the specs so I can order a generic belt?

I do have an old EPSON PC floppy drive. I was able to change the drive number to 0 and it does work fine with the ST. The only problem with this solution is the drive face doesn't really work with the STFM case without some modifications. I'd rather repair the ST drive if possible.

Thanks.

my 800 looks like crap on my ViewSonic....

So, my 800 looks poor on my 22 inch ViewSonic. However, my 2600 looks great on it, and with the same switchbox. I have had good luck using the 800 on an old CRT once I play with the settings. Now, I only have one games, Asteroids. On my ViewSonic, the blue asteroids. are blurry and the green player and score display are practically invisible. Oddly the alien enemy ship that zooms by occasionally looks really sharp. Now, the green player and high score were initially indistinct on my small CTR, too, but I managed to fix that. So far though, no luck playing with my ViewSonic settings. Any advice?

My wife met a person online to buy stuff off of in person. The woman also had an Atari game that she showed my wife. My wife was interested because Saturday is our anniversary. When the woman said that it was $350 obo my wife thought that was way too expensive and she couldn't afford it. A few days later my wife told me about it. I had to ask questions because neither her or the woman were sure about the game. Based on what my wife was explaining I almost had a heart attack. Then she said the woman sent her a picture of it. I asked to see. It was Air Raid!!!! I panicked. I asked why she waited until now to tell me, why she didn't call me at work, why she waited days to tell me about this emergency, and so forth. I have shown it to her multiple times and was surprised that she didn't know what it was. I had her send her a message saying I would take it. The woman finally responded today. She already sold it. Anyway, my wife gave me the best anniversary gift ever. I now have a guilt free pass for life for every time I forget something she says about Twilight or Korean TV dramas.

I am a long time lurker around Atari Age but this is my first post. I have been slowly collecting 2600 carts for a couple years and I have around 500 carts in my collection right now. One of the people I buy from recently sent me a note saying he has a possible Pepsi Invaders for me. Now, he is a middle man and has never done me wrong (to my knowledge). However, this particular deal feels hinky at best. I have never seen the inside of a Pepsi Invader cart so I don't want to call the seller a liar just yet.

Can any of you confirm that these pictures are not legitimate?

Anyone have actual photos of a Pepsi Invaders internals?

Thanks in advance!

PUZZLE BOBBLE on A8 by JoséPereira :)

Anywhere on screen you can have the 5colour balls together with three new ones 'my invention':
-> BLACK interrupts any colour sequence and can only be removed by the DARK REDISH Bubble
-> WHITE one act like a third colour of the sequence, so it gets you diagonal made if you place it where's already a two same colour sequence.

O.k.
No fancy tricks.
Just ANTIC4 one charset for the scores and Bottom Ground Floor, more another for the Main Playing Area, some DLIs on a 32Bytes wide screen and the PMGs used in 'a clever way' turn this possible.
Different gfxs for the sides Walls but also anyother gfxs with odd colours for the 'contour' Walls.

Any 'coding guys here may want to guess how I did it?
Post what you think or a little help if you download the file and run the Monitor:

1050 mod

Ok another silly question but....

does anyone know what this mod would be for?? The only thing i can tell is that it has a red light when the switch is one way and green the other.

The Red switch stops you writing to the disk.

Is this a Happy controller? or something else (i thought the happy controller needed two swriches).

or maybe there is some other mod that does this etc.

does this ring a bell with anyone?

Incognito media swop conundrum

Hi - can someone help me on a few loose ends with this nice product!

Im trying to load DOS 2.5 from an ATR file on the pc formated CF card (fat 32). however, after loading - i cant switch over to the 1050 disk drive to format/read contents etc - as it uses the CF card as the primary source of data (and cant see the drive)

Is it possible to switch SIDE hardware off whilst the machine is running without going into the menu? (or switch to the 1050)

Going into the menu and switching it off then results in the data being lost.

(please avoid SDX solutions unless unavoidable, a pure hardware switch is ideal to keep it simple).

Also -

What does changing the SIDE PBI ID achieve?

Why would you care about joysticks 3 & 4 being off or not?

sorry if this is covered somewhere, but ive searched endlessly and i dont think its been covered as yet, where the Ultimate 1mb has more Q&A.
