I absolutely agree, although my interest pretty much died in the mid-90s. Talking about music as an example, it was reported a few days ago that researchers found that music from the 60s and 70s were more familiar to young people today than the crap they're fed by the industry. I have little doubt that a lot of that is due to the variety of music that was in the charts back then. Today, there's very little difference between acts.
