How long has it been since I've done one of those status message poll thingies? Too darn long! So... "What's your all time favorite portable gaming system?"

i'd say Switch at this point- it was New 3DS XL before that.

GBA Micro is a contender for it's great build quality ... if only the screen were not so tiny.

The folding GBA SP with the nicer screen from 2005 is really nice as well, but it lacks a headphone port, which is awkward.

My pick also lacks a headphone port, but I have worked around it. I choose the iPhone Xs, big bright screen in a small package, and I never run out of things to read.

I'm down with the PSP crowd...great native games, great PSX games, heap of emulators and THAT display. Plus, its size is just perfect (Vita is too big for me)

Some days I feel like I'm the only one who loved Alien: Resurrection.

I'm glad you asked! I just looked up the trailer and I can't say I've ever seen this one!! I guess it flew under the radar for me and I didn't realize there was an ALIEN movie I've Never seen!

That's the one with Winona Ryder? I liked that well enough. But I kinda liked the bleakness of Alien 3, also. And I thought Aliens (the Cameron one) was overly dark and loud.

So those shiny new dark red colored joy-cons that I imported from Play-Asia for my Switch ended up both being defective straight out of the box. The left one's rumble motor wasn't working and the right one's R shoulder button was jammed. Fortunately Nintendo is replacing both for free, but I had to send the originals into their repair center so I'll be without joy-cons for a couple weeks. =P

That's really good to know that Nintendo of America will honor Play-Asia purchases like that. My import gaming purchases have all but dried up now that we get almost everything in the US, but I still check them from time to time for exclusive colors and things like you bought.

I've gotten surprisingly adept at repairing Joy Cons thanks to my son's clumsiness. If you drop the Switch with them attached, they take the brunt of the impact. Very good for the Switch, bad for the Joy Cons. But still an overall good design decision.

Having read the purported plot synopsis for the live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, I think I'm just going to go back and rewatch the Sonic X animated series instead. They did the whole "Sonic in the human world" thing way better the first time around.

I was getting an error code while trying to register my copy of Sonic Mania Plus with the My Nintendo rewards program. I was supposed to be able to get 300 gold points for it (which is $3 in eShop credit) so I called up Nintendo customer support and gave them the error code. They couldn't fix the error so they manually credited my account the points, only instead of giving me 300 points they gave me 3,000 for all the trouble. That's $30 in eShop credit!

I promptly went and bought digital copies of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 and Fe with my eShop credit, both of which I've been wanting to play for a long while and Fe was on sale for 50% off this week. Nintendo's customer support rocks!

Trying to decide between getting an official Pro Controller or an 8BitDo SN30 Pro for playing my Switch in docked mode. I sure like the look of the SN30 Pro and the better D-Pad, but I have concerns about it's long term reliability due to stories about the thumbsticks wearing down and the Bluetooth flaking out after a few months. Any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks for all the input everyone! Ultimately I settled on the 8BitDo SN30 Pro (the original Game Boy styled one) and placed my order for it from Amazon tonight, along with a blue Hori D-pad left joy-con from Play Asia for gaming on the go.

I figured I mainly wanted the extra controller for the D-pad, and reports seem to indicate that the D-pad on the official Pro Controller isn't all that great. Plus if I do have any problems with the SN30 Pro then Amazon has always been pretty good about returns and refunds. =)

Ugh... Limited Run's business model just sucks. I finally got a Switch and wanted to pick up physical copies of a few indie games for $30 each, but they're all sold out on Limited Run's site and there's no way I'm paying $90 each for them on eBay. *sighs* Digital it is.

Thanks for the tips guys, unfortunately Best Buy doesn't stock the games I wanted. I was looking for Dust: An Elysian Tail and Outlast 1 & 2. Those and Fox N Forests, which was put out by Strictly Limited Games and is just as unobtainable as Limited Run's stuff.

welcome to the dark side, my friend- well, after you collect moons in Mario Odyssey.

Seriously, though, I've had mine since November and I haven't played anything BUT. We bought my wife one in January because she saw me playing mine. ;)

Thanks Nate! =D Weirdly I have pretty much zero interest in Mario Odyssey or Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I know are the two games that almost every Switch owner buys, but I've still got a list of 20 or so games that I'm really looking forward to playing on it after I finish Doom and Sonic Mania. =)

It's crazy timing because I was actually just playing through the original Link's Awakening this week. I always play though it once a year every year. It's kinda wild to think it's been 26 years since I first played this game when I was 8 years old! I love how the graphics in the new version make everything look like plastic toys, it really makes me feel like a kid again looking at them and imagining playing with everything in that world.

Ugh... so I had 2 packages coming USPS First Class with tracking yesterday. One was marked as delivered when the mail was arriving and was in my box as normal, the other was marked as delivered 13 minutes later and is nowhere to be found. Time to make a trip to the post office and talk to the postmaster when they open in the morning. >_<

There's two apartment buildings at the end of the block that the postman always delivers mail to right after delivering to my building, so I'm pretty sure my MIA package ended up getting misdelivered to one of those two buildings. I'll talk to the postmaster in the morning and see what they say.

Reminds me of when we used to live in Cardiff. We were constantly receiving misdelivered mail, with mail intended for delivery to another part of the city that had a very similar name. Thankfully, I don't think we ever had anything valuable misdelivered.

It would be good to have a 32X portable with nice build quality. I'll settle for M2 conversion of Star Wars (SEGA) Arcade, which is something they've spoken about more than once.

The games are good... What killed the 32X was dealing with all those conecting wires and the fact that you had to throw it out when the Saturn came out less than a year later.

After 26 years of anticipation I was pretty darn excited to finally sit down and play Eternal Champions on my Sega Genesis for the first time tonight. Imagine my shock/dismay when after an hour of playing I still couldn't beat the first opponent. This the hardest *bleep*ing fighting game ever made.

The problem is that it doesn't work the way most fighting games do. You have to charge up a meter for special moves, and most of your abilities induce status effects. Your best bet? Play as the merman.

I think it was pretty much an unspoken rule of 90's video game development that every game had to include an underwater level that no one liked, but it still needed to be there because it was expected to be.
