Gunstar
Very sweet! Is that floppy drive the matching 810 drive, or the XL matching 1050, or the XE matching XF551? Or, is it an after market drive like Rana or "The One" or an Astra? Not that it REALLY matters anyway, but I know if I was given an 800, I'd prefer the matching 810 drive, even if it is slower and holds less per disk. I really wish I had an 810 to go with my 800 and an XF551 to go with my 130XE. Then I just want a 1200XL or 1400XL to go with my 1050 drives...right now my two 8-bits share the 1050's and my PC. Actually it is a: Percom AT88-S1 PD SS SD/DD, printer port, master I had to look the stuff up on the 8 bit faq since I'm unfamiliar with atari 8 bits. I also got a "Sound and Graphics" guide that goes through programming steps. I just hope I can find time to mess with it....

Gunstar
I forgot about Percom! That's a pretty cool drive. Better than an unmodified 1050. Also forgot about Indus, they made the "Ferrari" of disk drives as they self-proclaimed, for the Atari 8-bit, it always looked cool with led track read-out and such...always wanted one of those. Well, you've got a LOT of great exploring to enjoy in the world of the Atari 800, if you've never had one before...Although, while some of the games you have are good, they are just the tip of the iceburg, and mostly the older titles. If your planning on using it for mainly gaming, there are a few titles you should look for right away. Most Datasoft stuff was top notch and of course the LucasFilm games are a must (Ballblaser, Rescue on Fractalus, Koronis Rift); although one of the best Lucasfilm titles, The Eidelon, requires 64k and the 800's limit is 48k (without modification). You'll want to make sure games and files only require 48k. If you don't know how, and don't have the recorder or computer manuals, those tape games require you to hold down the [sTART] button when powering up, then pressing play on the 1010 after the "beep."(IIRC) it may have been press down play first, then power-up the 800 with [start] pressed... The disk based stuff will load automatically at power up, as long as the disk drive is on and connected. Have fun!

Yeah, I got the 1010 recorder. The disk based stuff will load automatically at power up, as long as the disk drive is on and connected. Have fun! Thanks for the info, I hope I get to use it soon.....
