Time to hit the main man Mario.  Since he's been in, like, a billion games, I've decided to do my first multiple question poll.  I'm still not hitting all of Mario's appearances.  I'm limiting it to only those games where Mario himself is playable (so no Donkey Kong, Jr. or Super Mario Land 3). Also, I'm not counting games that most would have little chance to play, like the Satellaview games.  And the games must have been published (and usually developed) by Nintendo, so no edutainment titles or Hotel Mario.  Lastly, no Game & Watch titles (not until round 2, anyway).

Those are just updated versions of previous games (Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3 & Lost Levels), not truly new titles.  Again, I've only got so many choices.  I've got to cut it off somewhere.  If I counted 'All-Stars' as a separate title, where do I draw the line?  Is Super Mario Bros. DX separate?  What about Super Mario 64 DS?

Man did I love Super Mario World in all of it's Super Nintendo splendor.  Such and upgrade from the original.  As far as Lost Levels....  I don't think I ever made it out of the first level.  An expendiential difficulty leap.  Doing battles in the original Mario Kart.  Gotta love red shells.  So many great Mario memories.  Thanks Nintendo.  Now if only I could erase the live action movie Mario from my brain I think I could give up therapy.

isn't mario kart ds the same as mario kart 64 except with online mulitplayer? allstars is the same as mario 1,2,3,lostlevels (and sometimes super mario world!) except with the ability to save.
but i understand why it's not included.

Platformer - Super Mario Bros.....for the memories
Sports - GBA Mario Golf - it's the only one I have really spent any time with and it was pretty good
Kart Racer - Mario Kart 64 - This game still managed to keep me entertained for hours at a point in my life where I really had no interest in video games and didn't even own any for that matter, one killer multi racer that I have cosidered adding an N64 to my collection for.
RPG'S - I hated all of them that I have played

It actually draws from all the previous Mario Karts.  While it probably takes the most from MK64, it has, for instance, fully 3D character models, unlike MK64's pre-rendered sprites.  Levels, power-ups and kart abilities come from all throughout the series and there's lots of new stuff, too.

My favorite Mario Bros. games are Donkey Kong (1981) for the Atari 2600 VCS & Super Mario Bros. (1985) for the NES. Super Mario Bros. for the NES has got to be the Most popular game known for the NES & what really made the system popular when it came along with Duck Hunt on the same cartridge in 1985. I also like Super Mario Bros. 2 & Super Mario Bros. 3 a lot too :0)...

Actually out of 65 votes I'm suprised that no one voted for the Cube version of Paper Mario.  I had a tough time deciding between that & the original Paper Mario but had to go for the original since I played that one all the way through.

Love the multiple polls, great idea for such a large franchise.

I went with:

Platform - Super Mario 64, one of the first games that actually made me want to play to the end, the original arcade Donkey Kong would be a close 2nd.
Sports - Mario Tennis Power Tour on the GBA, I've really enjoyed it.
Puzzle - I have not played any of them (maybe I should?)
Kart - Have to go with Mario Kart DS as it combines most of the best features of all before it.  Before that came out it was Mario Kart 64 all the way.
RPG - Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door on the Cube, great fun and a great game.

Where's the Mario Party category?

Platform - Donkey Kong. I'm truly obsessed with this game for some odd reason. My goal is to possess it on every platform it was ever made for. I already have several and play them all regularly. (i.e. Colecovision, INTV, Atari 2600, 7800, 8-bit, Vic-20, Apple ][, C64, TI99/4A, GB)
Sports - I've never played any of them.
Puzzle - Dr. Mario. Also an addicting game.
Kart - Sadly I can't play any of them. :( The one I have, for the SNES, causes bad motion sickness within ten minutes of playing. I didn't want to vote that I didn't like any of them but it wouldn't let me leave it blank. It's a really fun game but it's a real drag feeling like you're going to lose your lunch every time you play it.)
RPG - Never tried any of these either. I'm not really into RPG's much. Don't have the required amount of patience.

I eliminated my own favorite arcade game from the Mario series, Donkey Kong, Jr..  But it had to be done...
