moycon
This topic is about the C64 version... Not the Nintendo. Did anyone else have this game? I really liked it but wasn't very good at it.... I don't think I could get past the 3rd or 4th screen. The directions show a picture of all the screens and one of them has to do with a giant octopus. This was always weird to me because in the movie right at the end when everyone is standing around happy that the kids were safe.... The chinese kid mentions a giant octopus.... Was this a part that was cut out of the movie???
Nukey Shay
Yup, it was cut. Cyndi Lauper also did a song that was based on that scene (8 arms to hold you). http://members.aol.com/goonies695/facts.html Cut and paste the link below for a picture... http://www.geocities.com/ottopallone/p/goonies.jpg
moycon
Thanks for the info Nukey!!!! Now.... Is there an un-cut copy of the movie anywhere? They sometimes go back and re-insert deleted scenes into movies when the are released on DVD (Ex. CHUD) I didnt realize this scene was even cut and I don't remember hearing anything about it when The Goonies was released on DVD. I wonder why they left him talking about it in at the end of the flick??? Strange.
Varan
The Goonies Finally, this 1985 pre-teen treasure hunt adventure, long a perennial home video favorite, makes a splashy debut on DVD. Pumped up with a newly remixed 5.1 soundtrack and featuring a crystalline anamorphic widescreen transfer, this DVD will make every "Goonies" fan drool. Extras include a 1985 making-of documentary, the long version of the Cyndi Lauper music video, the film's trailer, a running commentary by director Richard Donner and practically everyone from the cast (now grown up), and a handful of outtakes. Fans who've been aching to see the famed deleted octopus scene finally get their wish, but it's so laughably cheesy they'll likely think it should've remained in the vault. moycon
I'm there dude... I hope it's as bad as the octopus in the Ed Wood flick... Bride of the Monster!!!
Tempest
I hear the runnig commentary is worth listening to as well. Apperently Sean Austin throws a huge tizzy and leaves because people aren't paying attention to him. I've been meaning to pick that up... BTW you won't be dissapointed with the octopus, I saw a clip of it somewhere awhile back and it is BAD! I swear you can almost see the dude in the rubber ocotopus suit...
