Tempest
While digging through my parents basement this past weekend I stumbled across some boxes of Apple II game boxes. I had always had the original disks and manuals, but thought that the boxes had long since been tossed. I mean, who saved boxes back then? Apparently my mom, that's who! God bless her... Anyway here's what I found: The Goonies Arkanoid Demons Forge Rampage Airheart ($28.99!) Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? (in my basement apparently) Realm of Impossibility (coolest artwork ever!) Kings Quest III Super BoulderDash Wings of Fury Commando Monsters and Make-Believe Temple of Apshai Trilogy Xevious Aliens Adventure Construction Set Strike Fleet Space Quest Gauntlet Mr. Do! Movie Monster Hacker Dragon Wars Paperboy Archon II Battle Chess Knights of Legend Tass Times in Tonetown Legend of Blacksilver Prince of Persia Pinball Construction Set Beyond Zork Ikari Warriors Times of Lore Pipe Dream Gemstone Warrior War of the Lance Champions of Kyrnn Pool of Radiance Alternate Reality: The Dungeon Scrabble Arthur: Quest for Excalibur The Black Cauldron Realms of Darkness Phantase II Eternal Dagger Wizards Crown Battletech (front box only) Deep Space Most of the boxes are in surprisingly good shape (a little dusty though), although some have some tearing and crushing. Not that I want to sell them or anything, but I wonder if they're worth anything? I just think it's neat I found them. I think there may be more down there as I don't see a few boxes I know I had... FastRobPlus
The boxes alone are only so-so worthwhile, but reunited with the disks and manuals some of those are worth good money - in some cases thier original list price or more. I don't do much Apple II collecting so could not tell you which ones would sell for a few bucks on eBay versus which ones would get bid up past the $50 mark. If you ever do decide to sell them, wait until at least Fall when more collectors are on eBay and bidding. Alternately, if you collect Atari you might want to see if there are any multi-platform collectors around who would trade a rare Atari game for something on that list. Oh - one more thought - see if any of those games are "flippies" and have the C64 or Atari version on the other side. Atari and C64 games tend to be a little more valuable. *edit* And Realm of Impossiblity does have about the coolest cover ever. *edit II* War of the Lance can get up to $50 on eBay.
