CrazyChris
What is the most popular ST emulator/s for Windows XP? Thanks, Chris
Christos
STEEM
Rybags
I like SainT, but I don't think it's being developed any more. STeem is OK but has some really annoying features. Funny thing about the ST - it's probably had more emulators developed for it than any other computer or console.
Christos
Apart from some problems with digisound and some demos (and sceneish games) STEEM is just fine. What problems did you encounter? Saint is developed, though a bit slowly and hatari is always under development. Clearly STEEM is the most popular though.
jens
Aranym will be nice for serious stuff once it will be reasonably configurable. Atm it's seeing through config files changing them manually...

+Zeptari
Tried the link... it translated french to english.. looks tricky... not to sure what i'm looking at. I guess i'll stick with Steem for now. -rick Aranym will be nice for serious stuff once it will be reasonably configurable.Atm it's seeing through config files changing them manually... anzac
I also use STeem and i´m able to save games on Monkey Island for example. i wasn´t able to save games on Deuteros, but it might be a game problem, not a fault with the emulator. i remember i had the computer on for weeks so that i could make a reasonably long game on Deuteros, since i could not save. There was also a sort of bug where the mouse pointer would get stuck on one corner, but that could be of the scene release in question. I did have the original game back then and i also have faint memories about this mouse bug, so it could be a game bug. but i also had a copy before having the original, so i might be mixing memories... haven´t tried a saved game feature on STemm much more and i´ve been coming and going to emulation over the years. i DO think that creating blank saved games disks could be easier, but maybe i just need to read the manual. STGuy1040
Nothing beats owning the real thing, but if you must emulate, I heard WinSTon is another good choice.
Rybags
I'm pretty sure WinSTon hasn't been updated in years. Same with PacifiST. My preference was with SainT, I think it's stopped too though. STeem... well, it's user interface sucks rather majorly, but it seems to be one of the few remaining choices.
Christos
Saint is great. Unfortunately it doesn't support hard disks. It's still supported though
carmel_andrews
WinSton/Stew ...is now morphed into HATARI (win and*nix versions)
+Zeptari
I think Steem just lost it's crown... Hatari works great.... I wish it would support 2 or more GEMDOS drive's.. and i miss Steems snapshot ability, great for saving games! and the scanline option.. just a couple things off the top of my head.. I hope they add them... Some games seem a little off... but com'on.... TT and Falcon support! -rick
+Zeptari
duh! I just found save state under the memory options! Some games just run better under Steem... Like Shadow of the Beast... I'm still playing... -rick
oky2000
I can only play STE games like Super Stardust with Hatari so if it's STE specific stuff use that. Otherwise I use STeem too
IndyJones1023
I am loving STEEM right now. One nit, though - Star Fleet doesn't seem to save your career. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
+Zeptari
I am loving STEEM right now. One nit, though - Star Fleet doesn't seem to save your career. Any ideas on how to get it to work? Use Steems memory snapshot menu. You can load and save games from there. Works great... I didn't even know what it's use was for the longest time. -rick As much as I like hatari, steem seems alot more stable.
Rybags
Seems SainT has received an update What's new...+ Best support for STE pixel scroll + Support 224 line size STE overscan + 0 byte line support + STE microwire support + F9 key to toggle breakboint under debugger (-debug option) Edited March 1, 2009 by Rybags
+Zeptari
Why can't everyone use the same compression format? What the heck is .RAR ?? Why can't it just be zipped... is it worth the trouble.... i see it has direct floppy disk drive loading... i thought this couldn't be done? -rick
Rybags
Rar is common as anything, and better than Zip in some regards... Much better splitting/spanning support, supports more foreign compression schemes by default. Compresses better (older versions, at least). The best thing about Zip is that it probably has the best user interface of the common programs.
