Crimefighter
Found for sale in Linens N Things...another Pac-Man joystick, this one having the five games from the original 1st Pac-Man stick combined with the games from the 3rd Pac-Man stick. As if we needed another one with the same games in it...
Feralstorm
Just today saw a "Pac Man All Stars" or something like that with 8 games on it: Pac Man Pac Man Plus Super Pac Man Pac 'n' Pal Dig Dug New Rally-X Bosconian Galaxian Is this the same thing, or something different? If Ms. Pac-Man was part of that mix, I'd probably be all over it, but it's not.

+DamonicFury
This is called "Pac-man Gold Edition". They're on sale at Target for $10 this week. Just picked one up and tried it out today. It's probably the best one yet... 8 games, all pretty good ports. High-score saving is included. Dig-Dug is definitely improved from it's first release... it's music sounds right now, the flowers at the top are present, and the playfield scrolls just a bit so the whole thing is included. The joystick is a 4-way which is great for 7 of the games, but perhaps not so hot for Bosconian, which used a 8-way. It's still quite playable, but you'll probably notice the issue. The button on this thing looks and feels like an arcade button... nice touch. I know these things have a bad rep, but if you've been waiting to get one of these, this is probably the one you want... it combines the first Pac-man stick with last year's Super Pac-man, and for this week, is available at a great price. Brian R.
I think I have the original Ms PacMan stick that has Galaga on it. That one people pretty much roundly hated, but I never had much of a problem with it, although it doesn't feel as good as the more recent ones. I'll have to stop by a Target and see if it's there. I'd grab this for $10.

I agree. I did take a few pics for those interested. I noticed the image floating around online (Amazon & eBay) is a little different than the actual stick. I almost thought the ones locally were a different handheld altogether. Sure enough , this is the version you'll find in stores. The last image is from the mentioned online sources. SRGilbert
I picked one up after work tonight, last one of the shelf. I'm not usually into the plug and play games, but I'm a sucker for Dig Dig. Too bad it doesn't have Ms Pacman on it though.
Brian R.
Any more thoughts on if the games on this new one look, sound and play correctly? I saw a bunch at a Target tonight, but decided not to grab one when I started thinking about how many ways I already have these games. Edited November 16, 2007 by Brian R. SRGilbert
I like the design of this one, the fire button is nice, and the little lighted "coin slot" button is a cool touch! Not sure if this is a glitch or not though. In Pacman, I had a ghost hot on my tail when I ate the power pellet. Almost instantaniously, the ghost turned blue as he touched me. The result was I died, AND lost the power pellet.

It looks like the characters are larger and more prominent, especially the pixelated ghosts. I'm assuming that this version never hit the stores? Nice toy though, agree it could have done with Ms Pac man (instead of Bosconian) anyone going to hack it?
onmode-ky
This new Pac-Man Gold stick has actually been discussed in this forum a little earlier. It appears toward the end of the Jakks Pacific Namco Ms Pac-Man Super Gamekey Combo thread and also in a few parts of the Retro TV Games market dead? thread (I brought it up originally as an example of the retro plug-and-play market not being totally dead). My files show that it was first announced by Jakks Pacific at the end of April this year. I didn't know what was on it until someone on eBay starting selling them sometime during the summer (months before they were supposed to be released). In one of the two threads above, I said that I didn't intend on getting the stick, because a) it was a rehash of Namco sticks 1 and 3 and b) I didn't like the new look. The retro chic was gone, replaced by kid-targeted character moldings. However, then they went on sale for $10, and I thought, "What the heck?" I got one and left it at my parents' place, for when I visit. Despite the silly design (which I still like better than the prototype design, though), it does have upgraded versions of the Namco 1 stick's games, so it's definitely worth the $10 even if you have the Namco 1 and 3 already (like me). Oh, and it's $10 again this weekend (not including Sunday) at Toys 'R Us stores, along with some other TV Games. I did take a few pics for those interested. I noticed the image floating around online (Amazon & eBay) is a little different than the actual stick. I almost thought the ones locally were a different handheld altogether. The picture at ToysRUs.com is accurate. In fact, finding that picture there in October and noting it was different from the Amazon.com one was what prompted me to think, "Hey, maybe this is the 'production' version, and maybe it's out already", go out, and see one for myself at a brick-and-mortar Toys 'R Us. Nice toy though, agree it could have done with Ms Pac man (instead of Bosconian) Hey, I like Bosconian! Granted, it doesn't have 8-way control on this stick (which it does on the wireless Ms. Pac-Man stick), but it's still fun. I think New Rally-X is what should have been replaced (what's "new" about it, anyway? Is it just that "Lucky" flag?). Now that Jakks Pacific has mined two previous releases to make this Namco 4 stick, I do wonder if it spells the end of the Namco TV Game series. There aren't many more titles in the Namco arcade library that are instantly recognizable to mainstream audiences, I think. Maybe they'll try a different tactic to keep the line going and mix new Namco characters with old Namco gameplay. Who wouldn't want to play Pac-MOS and have KOS-MOS blasting the ghosts with her hotness--I mean, her weapons. Then there are Tales of Bosconia, .pac//, Soul Galagar, and Katamari Damappy. onmode-ky
