mbd30
I don't know about me personally, but there are some tough NES games such as "Ghosts n Goblins", "P.O.W.: Prisoners of War" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" where you have to remember to select the continue option after getting a game over or you'll start from the beginning. I recently beat "P.O.W." and I think it would have made me cry if I'd gotten to the final boss after several grueling hours only to return to the beginning because I thoughtlessly just hit start rather than selecting continue. With a game like "Ghosts n Goblins" this could be suicide inducing. Edited January 25, 2016 by mbd30

+Black_Tiger
Tengai Makyou Fuun Kabuki Den. There is a major twist shortly before a tragic event late in the game. Rarely has a RPG made me care so much about the characters.
omegadot
Never been able to get that invested in any media. I wish I did. That sort of emotional connection looks fun but I just don't connect to many things.

+5-11under
I'm not sure if I cried, but I'm sure I got upset a few times when my brother would continually beat me at Pong.
Eltigro
Super Mario 64 I got so mad after continuously losing during the second Koopa race (falling off the stage and such) that I balled up my fist and punched the floor next to me. Broke a metacarpal. I cried a bit. Wait... Was that not what you meant?
BigO
Unless I've blocked out an incident where an older brother beat me over the head with an Atari Heavy 6'er, no. I don't recall ever crying over a video game.
Reaperman
It starts getting a bit dusty in the room when I view those Star Citizen trailers. Not really because of any plot, but more because I used to love playing that type of game, and now it's finally, properly coming back. Its soundtrack also features a lot of the musical cues movies use to force that kind of response.

Andromeda Stardust
I was at the entrance to Smithy's Castle in Mario RPG. I was playing it in 2012 and put the game away for a while after I bought the Wii-U. When I booted it back up very recently, my save was gone. I didn't cry physically, but I felt like a part of me died. I started a new save file and saved at Mario's pad. Power off; wait 30 seconds; power on. Gone. But I put a brand new battery in it in 2012. Upon closer inspection, the low profile battery holder I installed before I started my game had broken one of the contacts. The battery itself is presumably still good. It is an easy repair with a solder iron, but dang, it was my own personal save and my first nearly complete playthrough. Like a pet that died... Cest La Vie... It's still a great game and I will definitely enjoy replaying it in the future after I repair it.
+Cafeman
I remember getting some feels watching the extended ending to Nights into Dreams, years back. Not sure any game's story is strong enough to elicit strong enough emotions like some shows and films do.

+save2600
Having sold my entire US TG-16 collection back in the late 90's and seeing what Bonk III, Magical Chase and some of the other games fetch today, made me cry a little. Same with some of the SNES games as of late!

Zap!
Fantasy Zone's ending should have, but I don't know if it did or not. Saddest ending ever. Great theme too, which I use at the end of all my youtube videos. https://www.youtube.com/ZapOnlineOrg
