Vic George 2K3
The original model Genesis/Mega Drive was rather deceptive-looking when I first saw it in a videogame magazine months before it made its American debut. The raised dome area where the cartridge was inserted originally made me think that this system had a built-in CD-ROM drive. That would have been impressive if that had been the case, considering that NEC was bringing the PC Engine over to the States as the TurboGrafx-16 with an optional CD-ROM drive as one of its accessories. But that to me doesn't qualify it as "ugly".
Classic Chrispy
I would have to wind it down to the Sears Super Video Arcade or the Sega Genesis (model 2 with Sega Cd and 32X)...
Zonie
I wouldn't call this pretty, that's for sure! Does that thing actually work? Do the lights dim when you power it up? LOL.

EmOneGarand
I'd vote the SuperGrafx.. even though it wasn't released outside of Japan it was pretty tacky looking

Vic George 2K3
The Gizmondo in that picture looks like a handheld game system that took styling lessons from an old 1950s style radio.

I guess its invigorating for collectors to see that they saved a huge investment from staying away from that abomination. Anthony.... mos6507
I think the Kee Games 2600 console wins hands down. It hurts my eyes to even look at... Thank god it was only a prototype. Tempest wow, different and interesting! Uh huh! I think this looks cool! It's the Mork console:
mos6507
You gotta give extra dis to a console that desperately wanted to have style but couldnt pull it off, sorta like when Sears tries to have "hip" clothes. Your right this is an ugly system. I guess I forgot about it since I like playing it so much. I always liked the XEGS. I realize it's dated with the Miami Vice pastels, but still. I think the diagonal slot actually works, stylistically.
mos6507
Follow that up with the 2600 Jr and the PSOne. I think all of Atari's "wedge" shaped designs are very classy and timeless.
Primordial Ooze
Sign me up for the "Original Nintendo is the ungliest game system" club. It was big, grey and boxy.
+frankodragon
My vote has to be the Coleco Adam computer. It's so damn big and bulky plus it won't operate without the printer attached.
Lee9977
basically, i consider any system dedicated or not that had wood grain as ugly. Reason being, well if it was actual wood grain, there is something interesting about that, but a wood grain sticker??? um no.
GameGirl420
I never liked how the Super Nintendo looked compared to the Super Famicom. Looks really bland in comparison. Ohh I love how the original Sega Genesis looks tho! I always thought the headphone jack with the volume control was really neat.
Prodos8
I'd say the PS3 looks pretty crummy considering all that's come before it and the other current gen systems. As as far as classic systems go, I pretty much give them a pass.
roland p
I don't like the design of the wii. It's just too flimsy. The gamecube + contollers represents just what games/software should be, sturdy, bullit-proof, simple. This makes it (for me) the best design ever. Frotz
The Wii looks too weird. The PS3 is a good piece of hardware, but the curved top bugs me. I would rather it be flat so things like controllers could be easily placed on top. I liked the look of the SNES. It's the one-half-or-the-other discoloration that made it turn ugly. Mirage
This thread almost made it a year without comment, but I never saw it before, so... I vote for the Sega Genesis. I always thought it was ugly, but it just gets uglier with age. The carts, add-ons, everything about it is ugly. I still have one, because I like the system in every other way. Virtua Racing is one of my favorite games of all time.
