Bally Astrocade box questions.....

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a few questions about Bally Astrocade boxes. Does anyone have any pics of the sides of the full size boxes? I am having trouble locating any online. Just wondering if there is any text or art on the sides or if they are blank. Just kind of curious as to how they look splined out on a shelf. Another question, the blister pack games, does the game come in a small box (inside the blister pack) or is it basically just a game and a blister pack. Any help would be great, I have always pondered collecting for the Astrocade but I don't really know how the boxed games look on display, all I can find is pictures of the fronts of the boxes. Thanks :)

On the Astrocade games I have... On all of them, the side says Astrocade (or Bally Video Arcade - I think). On some, there is a small white label with the name & part number. From the side they really don't display very well, unfortunately. But it's par for the course seeing as they're the silliest box design anyway, what with the manual for a front cover and backwards opening gatefold.

Bummer, I was hoping the title names were on the side. Do you have any pics of your games on display?

Yep, that's what mine look like too. Guess my memory was a little off on the appearance. I keep them on a lower shelf so I don't readily see them :D

It's too bad - most of the game packaging is really boring but I think the system is really intriguing. The old, original Bally Basic is in this strange package. There is a leatherette cart holder that slips into a clear case that's divided into 2 parts, with the other part just being a large printed box. Hard to describe. It's in the lower left of this pic:

I also have Muncher which is in a cassette case, and a demo cart that's on a blister pack.

Here's some pics of the boxed stuff. They aren't terribly exciting looking on the shelf. :)

Not as bad as I thought but yes, slighty boring packaging. Still seems like a cool set to go for. Besides the weird basement homebrew stuff I don't think it would be too hard to get a complete set. I think I'll go for it :) Thnx for the pics!
