Does anyone have a pic of a store in the 80s filled with 2600 games?

I seem to remember some liquidation stores at a mall that had walls filled with 2600 games.

Complete aisles were filled with them. I even remember seeing the 2600/7800 boxes in a huge bin at Big Lots in the early 90s.

And, I remember the Toys R Us wall of games that seemed to just go on and on.

Anyone have any pics of these things? It'd dig up a nice memory or two for me.

KBToys used to put all of their games on hooks usually 10-15 games deep along the wall behind the register. It made it very frustrating when you tried to figure out which liquidation price games to buy when the employees didn't want to help you sort through their disorganized rows. In any event, I believe there are some old pictures of stocked stores in magazines like Electronic Games. I'll see if I can dig some up.

I don't have any pictures of the games at the stores, but I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of boxed games from Big Lots to my gallery today.

A lot of the games still have the Big Lots price sticker on the shrink wrap, especially the 7800 games, though you can't clearly read it. When I opened a lot of these games I just sliced the shrink wrap and left it on to protect the box. The 7800 also came from Big Lots.

Closest I can find:

I had it on VHS but the quality wasn't great. It's on DVD now though I've been meaning to pick up. I don't really care for the movie that much but it's work owning just so you can see all the Atari stuff.

@aftermac what's the little computer called with the built in monitor? I passed one of these up at a yard sale recently wasn't sure of value, but have been curious since.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics, but I certainly have fond memories of walking those massive Toys R Us aisles, grabbing a ticket for particular game, and taking it over to the counter. Man, those were the days. Who would have ever thought to take a picture? What a shame...

This is a great idea for a thread!I'd love to see pics from the 80's of classic gaming displays in department stores.I quite often have dreams of the times drooling over game displays in stores.I think that's quite a rarity to have pics of those days.It would be sweet as F#$K to see!!!

Yes a (drawn) picture from 1984 (by myself :) )

Incredible!

It even shows the Hot Shot range:

Most probably drawn in the first months of 1984, right?

You have a great eye for detail, Mister VCS.

Thanks for sharing.

The Hot Shot range with more detail and part 2 of the picture:

(systems: Atari VCS 6switch, CBS Colecovision, Mattel Intellivision and Philips G 7000;

games: Smurf, Ms. Pac-Man, Circus Atari, Haunted House, Breakout, Street Racer, Black Hole,

Labyrinth, Pac Kong, Time Race, Ground Zero, Venture, Zaxxon, Q*bert and Popeye)

...yes, I believe it was early 1984

Several years ago I stumbled on a site that showed pictures of racks and walls full of classic systems games from some video game store (during the 80's). I know I saved some of those pictures - they're probably on my old hard drive that I have stored away. If I can find them i'll post them. There were some very clear pictures (if I recall there was a discount rack loaded with 5200 and 2600 games) where you can make out the titles and see the artwork, hopefully I can find it.
