Okay, here's the rest of Round One:

BATTLE 5

Trendsetting NES game Super Mario Bros. against the unique gameplay of the arcade Tempest.

BATTLE 6

Atari's early arcade success Asteroids fights off the system selling Donkey Kong for the Colecovision.

BATTLE 7

Kaboom! for the Atari 2600 takes on arcade shooter Galaga.

BATTLE 8

And the genre-defying Yar's Revenge for the 2600 takes on another "different" game, the oddball arcade entry Crazy Climber.

Ok, for this round I went with Tempest over SMB. Easy one for me. I love the arcade Tempest. SMB is nice but not really a fan.

Also took arcade Asteroids over CV donkey kong. This was a much closer one for me but in the end, arcade asteroids is a classic.

Galaga over Kaboom was an easy choice. Never cared for Kaboom but love Galaga.

The last one is a reverse of the first 3, I'm picking Yars Revenge over Crazy Climber, mostly because I've never really played Crazy Climber but love the Yar.

Looks like I'm in the minority on each one of these four:

Tempest (Arcade) - Because of it's unique game play and appearance.

Donkey Kong (ColecoVision) - It made me, like so many others, buy the CV in the first place.

Kaboom! (2600) - The best reason to own operable paddle controllers for the VCS.

Crazy Climber (Arcade) - One of my all time favorite video games period. And one of the few back then that I was really good at.

Tempest - never much into Mario and Tempest IS greatness.

DK - As much as I love all things Atari, I have to give the nod to CV DK. I remember buying the console back in the day JUST for that game.

Kaboom! - neither that great but Galaga has always bored me

Yars' Revenge - likely the best original game ever for any home platform. So there. :P
