I think it will be a great idea if they could do fix prices and let sellers make category and product listings for an idea kinda like Amazon.com lets their premier sellers do. Just an idea, what do people think?

There are BINs but I'm not familiar with what Amazon does however, I'm sorry. What is the difference between fixed prices and a BIN - or do you mean have a storefront? I know that's something that has been brought up before. Many CTCW members do read thease boards as well and every idea is definitely listened to and considered. Thanks for sharing! If you haven't already, there is also a forum on CTCW where members ideas can be posted.

This is my first post here. We have been using CTCW a lot and saw this post in the forum over there. Curious about your idea though Do you mean just fixed prices and you could click on a sellers page and see what they have for sales?

Not sure if this helps, but I'm in the process of making a dedicated webpage to things that I have listed and other things, too, that aren't listed but still for sale. When I say other things, I mean things that will be for sale even after the listings end with that particular item in it. The page won't be anything fancy, just a for sale page.

On Amazon.com, a premier seller that pays there monthly storefront fees like $50 are able to make product pages that are not on Amazon.com. I put in Vidco Copy Cart on Amazon.com several years ago. There was no product page. So as a premier seller I made a brand new product page that was added forever on Amazon catalog. One the product page is made, it is there forever. I took down the picture.

So whoever had the item could put their item up for sale on their storefront.

 

Sells items on like Amazon, kinda like storefronts. What I am trying to say, is have fixed product listings like Amazon.

It is an interesting idea, but don;t most of those items have stock photos? Hardly what collectors want especially for the rare stuff...

Well being a long time ebayer and now a long time CTCW'er I will add my 1 and a hlaf cents.. Ebay sort of does the stock description and photo thing also which Amazon does. I personally am not a huge fan of stock pages for pictures or item descriptions because then Joe the pumpkin eater comes along and finds an old box in his basement with an Atari and some games in it, finds an Atlantis night scene game in box and sees the stock photo and description for Atlantis 2 and posts an auction for it and then for some reason can't take a photo of his actual game and then gives lemoncurry a huge headache and 2 weeks of heartache, while at the same time tries to broker 3 side deals for the same item. But hey that never happened before...

 

Maybe simply setting up pages as references that sellers could add or adjust simply for informational purposes could work but then thats what is already being done by wikipedia and here on AA and other sites, so is it worth it to rehash the same info already available, just so its centralized. I'm not sure, maybe.

 

As for fixed price auctions, you currently can set set up auctions in a buy it now format like ebay, the only thing being that they are limited to 10 day runs and then you must relist. There's no listing fees for regular listings so cost is not a factor here. I know Mike has tossed around the idea of 30 day listings the only problem with that may be that, other new video game auction sites have done this and then you get alot of stagnant listings that are in most instances way over priced. I believe Mike was attempting to keep that from happening at least now in the early going. With the current format things have generally remained fresh and new, and reasonable.

 

As for storefronts that amazon and ebay both charge decent monthly rates on, when you open a CTCW account you get a free homepage. That homepage is similiar to a basic storefront, it contains listings of all your items, easy ways to contact the seller, feedback profile and has an html editor so you can do basically anything you want and you get a unique address you can use for advertising and for hyperlinks. An example is mine:

THe site is new and growing and developing its own personality, its not ebay, amazon or GG, as Shawn said. But hey anytime you have an idea or comment let Mike know he is always looking for fresh new ideas and he responds very quickly when its appropriate, for example today alone he added insta searches on the homepage and in listings that allow you to quickly look at new items listed and items that are soon ending. SO join CTCW forums and drop Mike a line or do it through here, his id is parrothead. Mike is a great guy and works very hard to keep the site fresh and growing.
