Maury Markowitz
I have Atari800Win Plus 3.0 and it's much better than the win based emu's I've used in the past. However I'm stumped on one issue that should be trivial... how to save a BASIC program? I thought I would use the cassette emulation, but I later found that it simply doesn't write to them. So that's out. I then tried to use 'SAVE D:BENCH.BAS" but that said something about "not supported". I never had a disk for my Atari, so I'm at a loss. So I was wondering if someone can help? Do I need a DOS to be loaded to operate the disk? If not, how do I create a blank disk image I can use? Or can someone send me one?
Thelen
if you want to use the diskdrive, you need to load dos with an atr image. then you can easely save and load to the disk(image). if you're just in plain basic, you can use the save/load state from the file menu. then the atari ram is saved to a file. (this is not to a disk image but to a ram image) Thelen
Maury Markowitz
if you want to use the diskdrive, you need to load dos with an atr image. then you can easely save and load to the disk(image). Well I've tried everything, and I still can't figure it out. I mapped in the hard drive and tried 'SAVE "H1:BENCH.BAS' and that says "error- 130" whatever that is. Then I used the "new disk" function to make a floppy image in D1, and tried 'SAVE "D1:BENCH.BAS' and got the same error. Do you know what this error means? if you're just in plain basic, you can use the save/load state from the file menu. then the atari ram is saved to a file. (this is not to a disk image but to a ram image. Maybe this is the best way. Maury
Jetboot Jack
I use H: and ATR disc images almost daily under Atari800 win had have NO problems with BASIC data files saved to H: or ATR images... Is the FILE you are using (the ATR) set underwindows as read only - the emu won't write to files that are set as read only under windows... Is the DOS disc ATR image write enabled? (Alt+D brings up the SETTINGS menu - make sure the drop downs, by your drive image, on the right are set to read/write) Is the H: drive write enabled? (Alt+E brings up the DRIVE menu - make sure the READ ONLY mode box, under the check box for eanble H: drive, is UNCHECKED) If that's all OK then the Error 130 (which is Atari Basic for NONEXISTANT DEVICE) means the EMU is not seeing the drive/disc image because you've not booted a valid DOS image - so no DUP package is resident in RAM. Load an ATR of DOS into D1: and reboot (Shift +F5) - then you will be able to save sTeVE
NE146
Now I remember why I always had problems with some computer emu's (C64, Atari 8-bit, etc.).. Because a lot of times you have to know something about that particular computer to get anything going! Now AppleWin however.. I can work like a charm.
