A humanoid advances through many mazes by shooting as many robots as he can while being pursued by Evil Otto. Various phrases and sound effects can be heard throughout the game.

Basically, Berzerk and Frenzy are the same game, but Frenzy has more to do. You not only go through many mazes with varying amounts of robots and firepower, but you go through actual rooms, each different. Plus, you can shoot through the segmented walls to create an exit, bounce shells (so can the robots) off of the solid walls, and shoot Evil Otto for points and make him dissappear, but beware because each time he comes back he moves faster than before, to the point you can't out run him. If you stay in one of the rooms too long, another Evil Otto comes at you from a different direction along with the original one! Also, the robots are much smarter than in Berzerk.

Is the default setting extra life at 3,000?

I can't seem to get Frenzy to run at the moment. I've got the ROM in the same folder as all the other roms (which are working) but it's not picking up Frenzy. I need to update my MAME version anyway, so I'll keep working on it.

To answer your question, Blackjack, IIRC, 3K is the default setting for the bonus life.

My tips - it's easier to shoot Evil Otto if you're taking only up/down exits. If you're shooting him left/right then immediately after shooting towards him, move upward - this will move him into the line of fire.

My sound works, but I'm using an old version of Mame32.

I updated my version of MAME32 (Actually, it's now MAMEUI) and the sound works on that.

Looks like you get an extra life every 3K.

ColecoVision had a port of it so perhaps that's it.
